Right now Sling is running a deal that if you sign up for 2 months you get a free Roku. That's a win win.

And Amazon is always running sales on the Fire Stick so don't buy one at full price. Just wait.

Personally, I have not paid for cable TV in over 8 years now. When I first cut the cord, I mostly downloaded everything I wanted to watch. Later on I tried Netflix and have kept it ever since. With all the original content on Netflix now, that alone is worth it to me for the subscription. I have also been running an HD antenna of various quality the entire time, and depending on location you can pick up a lot of local stations. Between the two of those, and occasionally still downloading some stuff, I'm completely satisfied and to be honest hate watching regular cable now. Going to someone else's house that has cable TV and watching all the ads makes absolutely no sense to me. You're already paying for it, why the constant ads. Cable companies are going to die, it's just a matter of time, but net neutrality regulation might keep them in business. I'm still in the golden years of nearly free content, my internet bill is still $29/month, but that won't last much longer. I've already noticed some throttling of certain sites, and that's only going to get worse with the idiots at the FCC.

So I could watch March Madness this year, I tried a Sling subscription and got the free Roku. Soon as that 2-months is over I'm dropping it.

That's what I'm considering, a quality HD antenna. Which brand are you using? Where you getting internet for $29? I just need a good HD antenna & my Netflix & firestick. That $100+ I save per month I'll put on my mortgage.

I can't remember exactly what antenna I'm running, but it basically boils down to three types. The kind that sit inside your house work, but will pick up the fewest channels. External antennas really open things up, and pole mounted is by far the best. Going from an internal antenna to an external doubled my channel list, and going to a pole mount (or even directional) in this area might double it again. I'm sure there are plenty of articles online about specific ones to check out.

I flip back and forth between FIOS and Comcast cashing in on their introductory offers. After a year or two, I switch again. Between the two I much prefer FIOS.

Last time I paid for cable/internet I was easily spending $150/month. Now I'm spending say $50/month, usually less, so that's $1,200 of money I paid taxes on going directly into the bank every year. It adds up.

I've been looking at options to ditch Comcast as well. My contract ends at the end of this month. Sling is a top contender for me. I'll probably do that and an HD antenna. Unfortunately I will still have to rely on Comcast for internet. Good info and discussion in here :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Screw um. Cable companies, insurance companies, cell phones, you name it; they all do not award your loyalty, they only want your hard earned cash. Unfortunately that means you either get screwed, or you deal with the annoyance of constantly changing things up. I prefer the later.

Exactly! I called Comcast customer service 2 weeks ago. First thing I asked is "how long have I been with Comcast", I knew the answer of course, 15 years. Then when I hear them say it I asked " in those 15 years how many late payments have I had?" And I knew the answer was 0. So after I hear them say it I then asked " what are you gonna do to keep me a valued Comcast customer because I can no longer afford this monthly bill?". They couldn't do much for me so I requested to talk to a supervisor. Supervisor never called me back like I was told they would do. So now I'm dropping the cable, but keeping their internet but I'm downgrading the speed.

The sad thing is, at the end of the day they don’t care either way, you’re just avoiding getting taken advantage of. It’s never a win for the consumer.

My stepson's half-a-million mile tacoma has a ps leak. Has anyone ever heard of the body of a rack & pinion leaking because it rusted thru? The rubber mounting bushing must've held moisture for so long that it caused a rust spot on the rack which rusted thru & is now leaking. I have Energy Suspension poly rack bushings on my lifted trucks but not my stock trucks. New rack, tierods & alignment getting done tonight.

Can’t say I’ve seen that before. Have fun tonight replacing that! I replaced my r&p and what a pain. Learned a lot though.

I've seen diffs rust thru & leak but never a rack. Ive replaced a bunch of them over the years. I drove it to work today & I'm periodically spraying everything down with pb blaster. As long as the lines aren't seized/rusted into the rack it shouldn't be that bad of a job. My stepson will be here after he gets off work helping me, best way to learn is hands on.

That’s part of what made my replacement such a hassle. My high pressure line was rusted and the fitting wouldn’t spin. I didn’t realize that until it was off though.

I put stickers for more horse power!
I sprayed penetrant oil for 2 days before doing the fuel filter replacement to avoid that! It worked!
