From the articles I was reading there are definite differences between the 2 plants. The Texas Plant is highly automated, whereas the Mexican Plant is much more hands on including welding the cab.

In my opinion, variations wil happen day to day, guy to guy. It will not necessarily mean that the US trucks are ALWAYS gonna be better or vice-versa.

I really dont see the quality of one plant ALWAYS eclipsing the other’s.

    Just my 2c.

Not only are their cars boring but they design their cars in such a way that after 2-3 years they look horribly dated.

Also they don't make pickups or body on frame SUVs.

This about a social responsibility issue. Japan and German auto workers take more personal pride in their craftsmanship than do workers from the US or Mexico. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking US or Mexican workers, it's just how older generations have raised the younger generations and the attitudes taught to them. There are still elements there, but not as a widespread national social effort.

100% a lot of truth in this...

some people just do not see the great honor and responsibility in working on a production line anymore, society has cast a shadow on those lines of work

There was an article which talked about not having access to vendor parts in the Mexican factory requiring it to be more self-sufficient.

There's a wikipedia article on it:

Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California S. de RL de C.V (TMMBC) is an automobile manufacturing plant in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. The plant was established in 2002. The plant is a 350,000 sq ft (33,000 m2) building on a site of 700 acres, employing 700 people.[1] TMMBC is Toyota's first Automotive manufacturing Plant in Mexico and builds Tacoma pickup trucks and Tacoma truck beds. The plant was built for an annual capacity of 180,000 truck beds and 30,000 Tacoma pickup trucks. [2]

In January 2006, Toyota announced that the plant capacity would be expanded to produce 50,000 Tacoma pickup trucks, and 200,000 truck beds. The Tacoma truck beds are used for total Tacoma production.[3] As of January 2016, Toyota reports truck production capacity of 90,000, employing 1,100. [4]

TMMBC produces only V6 Double Cab versions of the Tacoma also provide Decks for TMMTX Tacomas.

In January 2017, Toyota wrote in a press release: Our manufacturing facilities in Baja, Mexico [...] support production at our San Antonio, Texas plant, where 3,300 team members produced over 230,000 Tundras and Tacomas in 2016.[5]

My Taco built in SA had a miss-installed door panel that squeaked badly. Two of the clips were broken and not in the proper holes. Easy fix on my part.

The grille on the skewp wasn't fully snapped in either. That might have popped out some time between the factory and it arriving in my garage.

That said, I don't seem to have the Taco lean and the bed seems to be aligned. I have not measured though.
