Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

There's probably as much variability in driving style as there is in Taco response.

 

Unlike most here I don’t need 4wd where I drive and the towing capacity was a little bit higher for the 2WD. Not much but every pound counts. I would have gotten the MT if they offered. This is the first AT truck I have ever owned.

 

Fair enough.... sort of. If he were giving it away, totally agree. But he's selling, so opens himself to gripes. It's like buying Apple because you love their products, then gritching about how iTunes manages files and isn't as flexible as Plex.

For the record, I'm on 1.04 and couldn't be happier. Better is the enemy of good, and that's what OVTune is having to deal with.

 

To be fair, K&N's dyno sheet in question did in fact list the conditions for each run. For the second run (K&N intake) it was 6 degrees warmer and 5% lower humidity.

 

I thought that was just a resonance chamber, but did not want to say he was wrong without researching first had. you guys saved me pulling the intake tube to look through it for restriction. Also had the thought of searching for a replacement charcoal filter to see it's size, shape and installation location.

Thanks for giving me time back, or actually saving me from spending the time initially.

On a side note...
I wonder how folks are doing with 1.04

Not too dusty where I'm at so I took the intake tube assembly off and zip tied an old oily red rag around the intake. I think I picked up 100hp to wheels the way it sounds.

I would also be interested to know if different shift/load maps for D and S mode.
"I would then shift back to S6 and the truck would hit 4th,..." This is because it always defaults to 4th when you shift from D to S mode. It would be great (for my driving at least) if it would default to 5th instead, that way we could easily preemptively drop to 5th on highway when needed. Or alternately have it default/stay in whatever gear its already in when you bump shifter from D to S mode.

Exactly, I have seen a guy who cut that charcoal can off, and plastic welded a patch to cover it over. Pretty much does the same thing lol

 

True, but lets consider the facts we have available. We have a real dyno sheet VS word of mouth from members at this point. Until someone provides a real dyno sheet proving otherwise I would think its more logical to trust the dyno results and trust an established performance company VS a group of guys who cant figure out what tires will fit on their Taco haha jk

That is a resinator to muffle sound. It's does not rob air flow.....or if it does it's so inconsequential that it does not matter.

 

Now I'm gonna go take my stock intake apart when I get home lol I'm not afraid to admit if I was full of shit either haha. That's what makes these forums fun, if we knew everything we wouldn't need TW

Fantastic. At first I felt like it wouldn't ever go into 6th, but I think it was cause I was driving against 30mph winds whenever I was on the highway.

It shifts flawlessly, and is so smoooooooth.

 

I've put TacoSauce on my ignore list... at least until he/she takes all of his/her off-topic dribble to another (new) thread.
