Hey all I had my frame swapped done by the factory and less then 24 hours later got a check engine light and a missfire in cylinder 6. I replaced the plugs and 6 was melted and the rest on the driver side had white burned marks. (thinking lean condition)

I drove for another day and the code came back so I took it to the dealer who sold me a coil and said not their problem.

Replaced coil and plug and cylinder six is misfiring again. Its currently back at the dealer, but the service manager is feeding me lines about how its probably just a coincidence, and they pull the engine all in one piece so there really isn't anything they do that would cause this. Waiting to hear back now. Any thoughts on what could be going on or what I can do once the dealer washes their hands of this?

I think 6 is drivers side last one towards rear. I believe this is a common cylinder for head gasket issue at least it was for 05 and 06 years.

    Yeah.
So they are saying there is no way they could have knocked something around when pulling the engine out and transferring it to a new frame, and they didn't have to disconnect or reconnect anything along the way. Sounds fishy to me.

Yep that's what I though, I would bet a dollar to a hole in a donut the cab hit the engine during frame swap and knocked the last injector around. I hate to say it, but at this point if someone was paying me to find the problem and fix it, I would remove the fuel rail and swap the injector with on on the front of the engine, and see if the miss follows. If it follows, it's the injector, if it remains, your problem is either electrical or low compression in that piston.

Contact Toyota Corporate directly and explain the situation. They may be able help persuade the dealer.

Yeah I was thinking same thing... They knocked something when moving the engine.

And yeah 6 is closest to steering wheel.

I guess my only option is to see what they say and then talk to corporate if I'm unhappy.

Thanks that's helpful, I'll keep that in mind when they say nothing is wrong.

FYI these frame swaps toyota is doing. They don't do it like we would. they lift engine, transmission, and cab up in the air, roll frame out, swap bed, running gear, harness, tank, etc..then roll new frame under and lower everything back down. Everyone knows the engine tilts back because of transmission weight. That would be my guess as to what happened. Rear of engine rested on fire wall.

That's interesting, that would make sense that it's the number 6 cylinder too

How in the world would you be able to hit the back of that engine hard enough to damage an injector or plug and leave no evidence on the top of the engine cover, or intake, or coil, or valve cover? That just doesn't track.

Toyota never admitted to this, but I am not your average Joe.

From 2003 to mid-2007, nickel prices skyrocketed to a record level of almost US25/lb. This phenomenon
    reflected the following:
    (1) Slow growth of nickel supply, as nickel inventories fell sharply. The London Metal Exchange (LME)
nickel stock fell from 36,000 tonnes at January 2006 to below 10,000 tonnes by August 2006 and
remained at this level until July 2007. The nickel production shortfall in 2005 was approximately 70,000
tonnes and over 40,000 tonnes in 2006.

So nickle was in short supply. Nickel is what is mixed in at the smelting stage to limit corrosion. Toyota was also powder coating the frame as it came of of the weld line, and the powerder coat didn't adhere to the hot welds. Which the still do to this day. This is my 2014 frame.

    1524082364803-1638808722.jpg

Everywhere a weld was made, the powder coat let's loose. The core of the welds were still too hot when they went in the booth.
