So we should blame Mexicans and Canadians?

    Fiat, obviously. It's always Fiat.

Actually I read a book called "A Savage Factory" a few years ago that was about working at one of Ford's transmission factories in the late '60s early '70s. It was just open warfare between management and labor and I gotta say that I tend to think it's management's fault when things get that bad.

more like the slumps in corporate had been cherry picking the profits and over producing vehicles (many shitty vehicles and some quality ones but still over produced) supply simply way over shot demand... poor management asking for money and flying private, just leaves a bad taste.

at least thats kinda how i see it, and in all fairness ford saved their own ass GM Mopar is more the culprit (ford not far behind)

It's a good read! It was at the Sharonville transmission plant, aka the plant that had literally six or seven years of its' production (c4 autos) recalled all in one go.

Books like that, plus all the stories about Chrysler employees drinking/drugging on the job, doesn't leave a lot to be desired out there :(

But they still make more than public teachers.

Unions have sucked the work ethic out of folks. At previous job, I heard stories about folks getting lots of shit for doing something not on their job description, suck as sweeping up a mess they made. There was a time when unions were needed, now I think they just protect folks doing shitty work and ensuring they get paid well for it.

We called it Mistake Proofing, but had to design and build the fix while keeping up production level. The only time we truly had to implement the mistake proof , we were in dumb meetings talking about how we needed to come up with a plan to correct the mistake.

yea this is a whole other topic, many underpaid and under appreciated teachers there is no doubt about that....
the system approaching school the way ford approached the model t production line, treating children as wood panels and metal hardware.

It doesn't matter where or who, if the workers don't take pride in their job then shit will get passed through, especially if management don't take care of their employees. It's like you hear on TV, if you see something say something. I always do a good job no matter what I'm doing and for who. I'm old school.

So, getting back to trucks, I have an 03 Taco and HAD an 03 F150, took good care of both, well my Ford had hidden cancer around the windshield and was leaking unknowingly under the dash then shorted the ECU and a whole bunch of shit under dash, then found rust on all cab mounts, hidden fender supports, bed stake holes, etc....Truck looked good from outside but it died anyway. Checked the same places on the Taco and all good! So that's why I got another Tacoma, only have couple thousand miles and first service due in June, but no issues yet, made in Mexico.....by the way, my Ford was made in Michigan and 03 Taco in California. We all can blame who and what we want, but I LIKE MY TRUCK, and that's all I have to say about that! Thank you Forest Gump....."

thats the problem......your so-called dumb meeting trying to figure out problems is part of the product improvement program....its needed.... and with that kind of attitude, no wonder we have shitty products getting to the public....everyone thinks quality people, inspectors and improvements programs are nothing but wasted time.....but if done right, with the proper attitude and finding solutions, not only does quality go up, so do profits because of the reduced warranty claims and returned products......its just plain and simple.....quality is number of rejections over number produced.......reliability is quality over time.....

    I’ve had 2 Mazda’s. 94’ MX-3 and my wife’s 12’ skyactiv 3 HB.

No issues with hers. Very impressed with reliability at 145k now.

My dad still has the MX-3 I gave back to him, which has 295,000 miles. Just passed smog again with some work that had to be done, but otherwise it’s been a reliable car. It’s a basic 1.6L with 5MT.

I beat the crap out of the car as a teenager, doing excessive street racing and highway speed runs in excess of 120mph being young and dumb. Still to this day, the engine hasn’t been rebuilt and I bought it used for $1500 back 10 years ago with 175,000 miles. Best money I ever spent.

In my eyes Mazda has been pretty reliable. The only issue with that mx3 is it’s literally falling apart interior and exterior. Who cares though. It’s a beater and gets you from point A to B reliably.

I’ll post some pics of it when I get a chance. It’s pretty beat up lol.

The Tacoma problems are clearly the fault of Kim Jong Un.

I had a Union Job back in the early 1990's and I really busted my ass to do a good job. Working 3rd shift would sometimes leave me by myself for a few hours overnight, a Union Leader that I did not know paid me an unofficial visit one night. He proceeded to tell me I was getting too much work done and was gumming up the works making his job harder because the company would expect others to match my output. He basically told me to start taking coffee breaks and threatened me, thankfully I left that job shortly thereafter.
