    I never claimed to be a pro and I didn't say anything about throwing it out. If it was something I was considering, I wouldn't let the lettering keep from buying it. I'd just take lettering off.

    I have no plans to go the uniball route, regardless of who makes it. It was just my opinion on their lettering and you disagree. I just think they could've done better.

    700# springs are a terrible idea on a first gen. They are not that heavy when compared to 2nd/3rd gens. I ran 600# on my first gen but that was with LT and the coilovers have a better effective rate than OE coilover mount points. Plate bumper with winch I wouldn't go over 650. Don't obsess with having preload or not. There's nothing wrong with preload as long as you are not bricking the springs at bump. If it rides super smooth...run it.

    3rd gen

    Why the hell would you change the spring length. A 650 spring is 650 no matter what length the spring is. Spring rate is a constant. Hooks law is F=kx. F=force, k=spring rate constant, x=extension or compression distance. It still takes 650 ft/lbs of force to compress the spring 1 inch no matter how long or short the spring is. Trying to stuff a 16" spring into an OE shock would mean you'd have to preload the shit out of the spring just to fit it onto the shock. Regardless, you'll still have the exact same amount of preload for both length springs. One would just have more exposed threads. The only time you need to change spring lengths is if you are hitting block height.

    Again...no. You won't be getting rid of any preload because the spring rate is a constant.

    So the 700s would resolve the preload issue ? Stick with stock size 14 inch and 700s for less threads/preload?

    You will need a spring compressor to get them 16s on. I barely got my 16s off my 8" LT kings 600lb rate without compressor. that just means you will need one more tool is all. That's if you ever plan to cycle your front to properly set bump and droop. but that's just if your plans are to go that far with it. I plan to be able to re build my kings when the time comes. If it was me I would up the spring weight but keep the same length on stock arms. If your running extended travel you might want to consider limit straps. it will save your BJ's and extend the life of your kings.
