Suspension Suggestions

Hello everyone, I'm new here to TacomaWorld. I've had my 2016 SR5 4cyl RWD for roughly 2 years now, but just now am starting to consider mods for it. I know this has probably been asked around the forum before but didn't see too much about lifts specific for the 2WD models.

With that said, I'm not very knowledgeable about how suspension works, which brands are better than others in the sense of functionality, quality, etc., or which applications are best for which conditions.

I'm basically looking for suggestions on what kind of lift I should get with the following things in mind. Honestly I don't plan to do any off-road with this truck. Just want a higher stance (2-3" ride height) for bigger tires purely for aesthetics. So whether it be just a leveling/lift with spacers or stage 1 type kit, just want to know what brands/applications you all would suggest.

Vehicle: 2016 toyota tacoma 2wd 4 cyl 2.7l automatic
Desired Lift: 3" Lift
Usage: 100% On-Road
Budget (A little flexible): $600

Purely for aesthetics- spacer, add-a-leaf, and longer shocks should get you there. There are a million companies doing the billet/machined spacers, check out ebay for some deals. Grab some +2 bilstein 5100's and a couple rear add a leafs and you should be done for under $600.

Noted and thanks for the suggestion! I had ordered some Supreme Suspension spacers from Amazon but then immediately got cold feet after I ordered due to thinking there might be some better options out there.

 

If you do decide to go the spacer route, and there is nothing wrong with that. I have one suggestion; look into a spacer for your bump stops, or new bump stops.

 

Edited: I guess with the suggested info up top, I'm looking at the 3''F / 2''R SST LIFT KIT - TOYOTA TUNDRA TRD / SR5 / ROCK WARRIOR 2005-2018 with Bilstein 5100 front and rear shocks.

Two questions with that, will the rake feel noticeable with the 2"R rather than the 1"R, suggestions on which to get? Also for the bump stoppers what kind/brand? Didn't plan for those honestly.

 

With the 2" rear; IMO, you would sit more level with a slight rake. With the 1" rear you would be level with a possibility of the rear being lower than the front.

I have see a few kits that have the bump stop extension. I am trying to find that, and when I do I will edit this post for you.

Oops, linked the wrong one, but yeah I went ahead and ordered that kit for the Tacoma, 3"F 2"R from ReadyLift. They were super awesome and helpful on the phone in case anyone wants to know. Price came out to $350 with 2 Day Air shipping to Hawaii and military discount. I'll just have to look for separate bump stop spacers or bump stops now.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product. As far as bump stops go; you may be able to ask wheelers off road or low range off road for the info on those. I was looking earlier and was not able to find where I saw the bump stop spacer. You may be able to go with a completely new bump stop as well.
