If I have to respect authority, then it should have to respect me. 98-99% of the time, authority and I get along just fine. The remaining 1-2% of the time, I end up having incidents like that time I cussed out the guy at BJ's Tire Center for telling me I couldn't take pictures of MY TRUCK (after he'd done about $400 in damage to it).

Also, it isn't illegal to record police in Maryland. Police just want uninformed citizens to think it is so they can intimidate them. I don't have the problem with authority that people think I do. I just think that...

1. Badges and guns DO NOT grant extra rights.
2. When it comes to people (even if they're cops), I only see nice people and assholes. Obviously I'm not stupid enough to get into a pissing contest with somebody who can arrest me. However, if I feel I've been treated unprofessionally by anyone (whether it be a cop or some tire jockey at BJ's) I have this habit of taking to the internet in a very vindictive manner...

I have a tendency to rant and rave, and basically talk a big game around family and close friends, but the few times I've had encounters with police (stopped for taking pictures, DUI checkpoint, two traffic stops), I've been too petrified to do or say anything.

 

I just don't want people to think I have this huge-ass problem with authority. I just don't like people using their authority to push people around, and I would not switch off my dashcam to appease Illi-Nazi police...

I really don't have a problem with authority. Authority seems to have a problem with me a lot of the time. A perfect example would be the two separate times I lost my temper with school bullies and got suspended for "assaulting" them. What school taught me over the years was that "we're not going to do shit when other students pick on you, but when you take matters into your own hands and give them exactly what they deserve, you will be punished."

I know you don't have a problem with authority. I understand that you have an inate sense of right and wrong. I do too. I still deal with it everyday. Other people don't have the same point of view that we do. I've tried to see everyday peoples' POV the best I can. But it can be hard to see.

When was the last time you went to Yellowstone for any length of time? Sadly, the last time I went was in 2000. My cousin worked there as a park ranger in 2016-2017 though!
