I dont think it’ll be any cheaper anywhere else for the oem parts. Could have went aftermarket but I’d rather have the oem stuff.

Toyota part #s if anyone wants them. Parts are made in Japan. Well I don’t know about the 5 bolts and 2 nuts since it doesn’t say. The shroud, overflow tank and overflow hose are though.

I can always find OEM parts online for less than my local dealer.

Then, the dealer will match prices. Obviously, that will depend on the dealer, but it’s worth a shot in the future.

I’m thinking about coupling this with an electric fan setup. We do a lot of wheeling. I’m thinking the electric fan and shroud will be easier to pull to hose out the radiator fins.

Someone change my mind?

Yeah. The prices I got mine for are employee pricing which I am happy with. Cheaper than msrp, dealer still makes a little money, and I know I am getting quality oem parts. Best thing about employee pricing is I can get tires for $1 over their cost. Not always the best deal, but in the particular size I got for my truck it was a smoking deal since they are a little bit of an odd ball size.

If you don’t know someone who works at a dealer ship getting them to price match is the way to go. Especially if they are close so you don’t have to pay shipping.

 

Pros:
Better airflow if you buy good fans
Can turn them off if going through mud/water
More modding!!
Cons:
More parts to fail
If not setup right I think it will be worse at low speed cooling.

I think you should modify an oem fan clutch by adjusting the turn on temp and putting heavier fluid in. Keeps it reliable and pushes a bit more air than stock will. Cheaper too me thinks.

I just liked the idea of pulling the whole assembly to clean out the radiator.

I’ve heard mixed reviews on the flex a lite for the 2nd gen. Not a large test sample though. Would the ease of removing be worth the risk if something goes wrong down the beaten path and your fan stops working? I don’t mean to scare you away from it, just making sure consider it a possibility though. Murphy’s law.
