The dealer can change the setting for you. They will probably charge for it though. I can do it on my 13, and 04 4runner, so I assume you can on a 06

I did some special sequence of keyturns and stuff on my 2012 that disabled the horn beeps when I locked/unlocked.
I forget what it was though.

How about we trade. I want to get rid of my tooting horns. If anyone figures this out post it up and no I will not cut my horn wire's.

    Agreed.

I can't freaking stand the horn thing during the remote locking.

I find the Toyota remote lock sounds to be useful, tasteful and well designed.

Still can't understand the idiots that .. stand there and hit their lock button umpteen times....firing off the horn repeatedly. Are they deaf ? OCD ? Trying to piss people off ? What motivates them to do this ?

I agree. Why people need to hear their horn honk when locking their car is beyond me.

For the same reason some don' understand why u need a big lift and big tires with 14 lights just to go to the donut store, to each his own, there' no need to get pissy if u don' like someone else' mod, it just ain' for u,
    Let the whining begin

I’m talking about the idiots who stand there and hit the thing several times. Why ?

Parking in their driveway....and do double taps with it. Why ?

Not getting pissy, just don’t wanna hear the stupid noise.

Why they can’t simply get out of the car and lock it like normal folks is the question. They’d prefer to walk 40 yards away and turn back and fire off a salvo of horn blasts announcing to the world they have just locked their cars. Why ?

    Real annoying in parking garages.

Sort of sign someone has diminished focus if they need several blasts to tell them their car is locked.

Makes one wonder what reminds them to wipe their butts when it’s time.

My neighbor thought it was an alarm that went off or something wrong with my taco until my neighbor saw me half naked and the horn noises stopped once he knocked on the door.

Not sure why they do it, nor do I care, it' their horn and a free country,
And for the record, I happen to like big lifts and huge tires, not so much the 14 lights cause my donut store is very well lit.
