what's with all that extra length?

I'm picturing you as a little person, hand resting proudly atop your extended knob. you're pretty badass.

ima duct tape an extension on mine so's I'll understand.

Don't mind me, I thought I was in the drinking/haiku thread....or at least I ought to be

Yup. Exactly. As soon as cash frees up a bit, time goes bye-bye.

Joined the Toyota family this weekend with an '18 Sport 4x4 and the best decision was choosing the manual. Test drove several Tacomas over the last couple months and the autos were no comparisonIMG_2147.jpg

actually i like a high rise knob position for driving comfort and ergonomics. my elbow is supported at the console and my hand lands exactly at shifter and wheel level. i just go back and forth without needing to drop my hand position. it's a high energy driving position, cus that's how i drive. but not always fast. :alien: :D

That makes sense. You have a longer lever arm too, and I bet that makes for a more positive/controlled shifting feel or something (I don't know what I'm talking about..must be time to go to bed). Anyway...I'm sold on coming up with an extended alternative anyway.

i have the URD shift kit in there, and with this heavy ball it's super tight, super smooth. and it seems to match the feel of my handling setup, so I'm real happy all around with it. but yeah it's time to go to bed.

    Who needs Crawl Control?
    I've got a sunglass holder & 2 Flux Capacitors
So happy to still be driving a manual.

I think 2 brands discussed in here are URD & Core/Hurst. No personal experience with either, but plenty info on here. Keep looking & asking.

I'll be that guy: And real women!

Girl at work drives a (very well maintained, lifted) single cab 1999 5MT Taco that is in great condition. I always joke around with her not to sell to just anyone and that I will buy it off her.
Today, she asked me when I'll have the cash ready!!

She then proceeded to tell me that she just ordered a TRD OR in Cement...6MT. I gave her the obligatory slow, hanging, emphatic high 5. What a badass.

Hell yeah. I hope I end up with that thing, honestly. It's so sweet. I was slobbering over the manual hub locks and dual sticks!
