Just show the grill pics and not the cut pics. That's what happens when people post "ate too fast for pics :anonymous:" .

    Right?!?

    Looks perfect !!!!

    Big fan of kamado grills.

Just make sure you get a lifetime warranty and register the grill properly.

The components will crack at some point if you own it long enough.

I’ve been enjoying my kamados for the past ten years.

    Again....that steak looks great!!!!!

About that bacon wrapped asparagus, how does the bacon get done without over cooking the asparagus?

I guess it depends if you wanted your bacon crispy or not. The way I cook it, they bacon is crispy on the bottom and chewy on top. I like it that way because you get multiple textures and it just tastes really good.

As for the technique, I just put it on with low direct heat on one side and high on the other, that way the bacon doesn’t scorch. I have no idea how long it cooks. Probably 15-20 minutes total. Last night I let them cook for probably close to 10 minutes then slapped the steaks on the hot side and they cooked for like 6 minutes and it was all perfect.

Your question is the equivalent of asking the difference between a Harley Davidson and a cruiser.

A kamado is ceramic charcoal cooker originating out of Asia and popularized in the US in the late 60's and early 70's.

The key difference between the brands boils down to fit-and-finish as well as warranty. I'd say the top three brands are Kamado Joe, Big Green Egg, and Primo. KJ has a really nice new hinge that takes the weight of the lid so it is easy to open/close and won't slam down, and they've redesigned the firebox in a way which may prove to be more durable over the long term. They've brought out a rotisserie product, and the grills include a "divide and conquer" multi-level cooking setup. Primo has oval designs, and the ceramics are made in the US. The oval is good for dual-zone cooking and for long stuff like ribs and brisket. On the other hand, at their price level you can typically get a round grill of the same diameter and get pretty much the same benefits for dual-zone while having additional real estate. Big Green Egg... Typically sold without adjustable internals, you buy "EGGcessories" to add capabilities; BGE is coming out with their own version of the KJ setup, though many people like the third-party Adjustable Rig stuff from Ceramic Grill Store. BGE also has boutique shops where you can buy a zillion different BGE themed doodads. They also have regional gatherings called Eggfests and you get to use "egg" in various words such as "EGGcessory", "EGGcellent", and "EGGactly."

There are some others in the field, and certainly worth looking at. The big thing is know what you'll do when something cracks. Ceramics crack. Pay close attention to the warranty terms.
