hey guys, whats your favorite DVD burning software for a mac? reasons?

 

toast titanium, very intuitive

 

I use Adobe Encore (CS4 Master Suite) and it works really well works well especially if you have additional adobe software, like the master suite. For my Mom's birthday last year I put all of our (my siblings) VHS home videos on two dvds. Also for my Uncle's funeral I made a tribute dvd with compilation of old 30mm film, vhs film, and photos all put to music perfectly.

Off the top of my head I don't remember if I used any other Adobe software to do those things, but I don't think I did (other than Photoshop to clean up the photos).

It all comes down to what you're needs are, Adobe Master Suite 4 cost me around 300 bucks (Corporate and Student discount) but is listed on Amazon for a grand, but it gives you unlimited power over your projects (if you're on a mac ).

Toast is decent. I agree with Encore for Adobe software.

DVD Studio Pro is clunky, but if you work it out, it's okay. Depends what you want to do.

For the most part, I take my FCP (Final Cut Pro) projects direct to Compressor or DVD SP -- they keep the markers/chapters you established in FCP for scene selection and DVD SP has custom menu building.

If you're looking for a quick & dirty, though, I would go with Toast. Or Nero.

Agree about studio pro having too many steps. I save my fcp project into quicktime and burn it with imovie. Using fcp5 and sd, don't know if the newer ones will do it.

 

thanks for the responses guys. i just realized it doesn't matter what i have cause the file i'm trying to burn is an mkv file which apparently is next to impossible to burn on just about any software. i gotta find another version. this is such a bitch. i really want to buy this movie but its only got a UK version and i dont have anything that will play region 2 DVD's. i'm no stranger to pirating random stuff but if i ever find something i like enough to keep i always delete it and end up buying it to support the artist/director/whatever so i have no experience burning DVD's and it turns out its a pain in the ass

Have you tried Handbrake?

 

Handbrake is Great I highly recommend it to everybody here. takes about 45 minuites to do a 2 hour movie and great DVD quality
