It doesn't imply cost of living. They just calculated annual salary needed to make 12 payments per year based on average median sale price as of April 2, 2018, using 4.259% mortgage and 10% down. Data is what data is.

Damn. I gave up and went to bed when it was 3-0. I thought there was no way they would make a comeback since their puck handling was atrocious all game up to that point.

Bah, except for it being the average price. If you've been to any part of NY other than the city, it's all rural with cheap ass houses. My old hometown, you can get houses in the 50-60k range. My sister has 300+ acres and 1/4 mile of water frontage for $118k. What kills are property taxes. She also pays close to $20k/yr in property tax. I own a property back in NY and it's almost $8k/yr for something valued at $80k.

It also appears to be for the entire state of New York, not just NYC. Houses are much cheaper in the rural countryside out there.

Exactly what I said.. couldn't take care of the puck in the least. It was terrible. End of the second they picked it up, but played pretty well in the 3rd. Under a minute with the goalie pulled Wilson missed a near open net off a rebound, hit the crossbar. I cried.

    Some cave pics from Monday.
This is called the Fairy cave, it's a natural cave carved from geothermal activity and has several passages and ways to get completely lost.
In fact, they take your pic as you enter to make sure we all get out.
You're not allowed to touch anything as it will damage the cave, the oils on the fingers cause the water to not flow like it should.
The passages are fairly wide but some require you to duck and think skinny to get through.
The floor was obviously upgraded to make it easier to walk on.

Hole in the cave wall, leading to another cave.

wooden peg in the wall from the original wiring for the lighting. I guess they caught fire occasionally.

I thought this was cool but don't remember why.

It's the same everywhere. Here the Vail and Denver price is balanced by Trinidad and Craig. Also this is based on 25% of your pre-tax salary being mortgage. So ~$100k puts you in a high tax bracket and your take home is probably more like $65k/yr and you're actually spending >50% of your salary on a house.

Have to find average state-wide salaries to see how we're faring in cost of living and quality of life. What I've read is salaries are lagging here so we're getting squeezed. Why would an employer need to pay high wages when there's a growing pool of new candidates always looking for work?

With all the people moving here and the speculative housing money coming in from sales of homes in CA and NY (so these people can either buy outright or put down so much that their mortgages are cheap) those of us here for a long time or coming from cheaper states get doubly screwed.

When we did that tour, my son was 4 or 5 at the time, and was not thrilled when they turned the lights out! I did the Big Swing but couldn't talk my wife into going on it.
