From what I've read its a stretch to get a full 3 inches out of these.

These Fox’s are built for performance and at no point do you see them advertised for extreme lifts. I think they are perfect for Tacoma guys who want to lift their truck for some off road adventures and daily driving performance. Still love mine.

One of the problems with lift is how they describe it. They should advertise that your truck at a given weight with these coils will sit at X number high when measured from center of hub to fender.

When they say you will get 3 inches of lift they don't state from what starting point, if your front suspension is all sagged you then you may need more than 3 inches of lift to achieve your desired height.

Well said, and this is why the consensus on a 2nd gen for 3" lift is 23" hub to fender.

Yes, and that is a good standard way to measure because that is what matters most to us, nobody really cares if they got 2, 3, or even 4 inches of lift, its the height were trying to achieve.

So. Whats an average install time? Hoping to knock it out this upcoming weekend. Front and rears, jba's and a whole pack in the rear.

Also, can I get away with not doing the brakelines for a week of highway driving?

3" is an "extreme lift" to you?

I got 23" hub to fender after removing all the parts I stated above. I see some consider that an extreme lift. I find it minuscule.

I'm at 23.5" on a 3rd gen. That would mean 2.5" of lift. Not seeing the issue..mine ride dreamy and I pretty much do what I want on the truck. No crawling but high speed dirt runs are cake. I wouldn't go any higher than 2.5" though..just wanted it level with the rear. Luckily the ride stayed great.

If it's your first time I'd say 6 hours. Just plan ahead and watch install videos over and over to help with your plan. Also, be ready to swear a shit ton when you get to removing the passenger side UCA bolt. Ffuuuuuuuuhhhhhh. That was a good 45 mins alone.

I bought brake lines, but didn't need to install them. After cycling suspension I had plenty of slack.

I put my new bumper with winch, and no cable, on. Front end dropped .75". Down to a 2.25" lift cranked further than Fox recommends. I'd imagine after my sliders and 31M battery I'll be at a whopping 1.75" lift. :puke:

Not really sure why you're upset. You are well beyond the weight of a stock truck so expecting the same lift from a spring designed for a stock weight Tacoma is silly. I know you said you removed parts beyond stock to get to 3" but I bet you were comparing to an already sagging suspension. What are your hub to fender measurements with the bumper on and off?

I posted above I was at 20" stock, 23" with all those parts removed. I will now continue to bash Fox for their springs. Their shit. I believe their the only ones using a 13"/600lb spring. Reason for that is?

    Yikes.

Side note. In prep. Set screw for lock collar. 1/4 turn back enough? Obvious when it's free I'm assuming? And overall consensus is ok to adjust on the truck with it up on jacks? Hoping the alignment shop can get me in Sunday

Okay to adjust on truck. Loosen Allen screw till it just feels loose. Maybe 3 ----1/4 turns. Just till it feels like its loose enough to spin the collar.
