That is not an independent dyno test, it was done by a company trying to sell you products therefore completely worthless.

Looking forward to the results . One thing for sure is if the dyno shows minimal to no increase over a stock truck it is not good for the O vtune either .
Make sure to post what version of the tune you have on and all other mods done to the truck .

True, but my point is simply that there is a huge difference between a written claim like #1. best truck in america VS backing up a claim with test results.

Shawn at Rouge Offroad in Vegas has done independent Dyno results and says he saw gains too. There are also many videos online of other cars showing gains from CAI, just none of our truck spefecically yet. Which is why I am determined to Dyno test both and make a good video for all to see.

    For sure.

As previously stated, keep in mind that “data” provided by the manufacturer/seller, is hardly considered data. It is more likely a biased gimmick to get you to buy their product.

I much rather use as reference, the word of mouth from a buddy I trust, than a manufactures claim with “data” provided.

If you are gonna dyno test. Id do at least 5 pulls in stock configuration, 5-10 minutes appart each. Make sure and start with a cool vehicle. After stock test, let vehicle cool and do the same amount of runs with the CAI, as you did in stock configuration. With the same time apart.

Then proceed to average both sets of runs.

So according to your logic, any company that makes a performance product cannot be trusted to show their own results? If it were just a "claim" then I would be inclined to agree with you on this one. But this was a Dyno printout. Are you really implying they went as far as faking a Dyno test?

I was planning on 3 runs on stock CAI and then 3 runs with K&N.

Dyno tests can be set up to be “inaccurate” or one sided.

You would be a naive individual, if you were not to believe that manufacturers can be “one sided” when providing their data.

I will keep you guys posted when I line up a Dyno to use. This should be fun and a good learning experience.

You realize that then can alter those tests to favor themselves.

We will believe when we see it.

Why don’t you contact any other companies and compare what they say as far as power gains as well. The bottom line is that this thread is just intended to start a conversation.

If you wanted a CAI that bad and believed what you have been told, you could’ve already done the dyno to prove all the nay sayers wrong. We will be waiting for results. I’m not against CAI’s (I just don’t believe the hp gains are what have been stated). This thread is silly. Show us proof not just an email response from K&N and then a thread such as this is worth posting about.

Did anyone see this video I posted earlier ??

It shows that K&N filters do make hp , Also I bet you the guys at Westech Perf would probably do a dyno pull to debunk this myth , they're in Mira Loma Ca

My good friend owns a dyno shop, I helped move the shop a couple of times and set everything up. I also used to help him with Dyno Days on weekends.

I myself have tested and witnessed on his DynoJet (not on a Tacoma) that CAI's do improve power and torque, but sometimes at a negative cost without proper tuning. I have seen multiple different types of manufactures vehicles run dangerously lean because of a bolt on CAI and Cat Back.

Given that, I live in Phx AZ and there is NO SUCH thing as COLD AIR in the summer time, I have never used more than a drop in filter.

Again Its hard to understand why you are willing to pay for dyno time to prove out a CAI but do not seem to be interested to see what the O vtune actually does for the truck . The tune is way more pricey than a CAI. Can you flash to stock tune and then Ov's while there ?

That makes sense on a carburetor as I doubt there was ever much time spent designing optimum efficiency.
