This is the funniest part. Many people on here complaining the truck going into 6th at 40-45. Me and you have manuals, and I do the same. If it’s perfectly flat I’ll feather 6th at 35-45 and pull 30+ mpg’s.

Yup. Easily. The instant mpg gauge is maxed out which is 30+ while am doing said method. Not tank, instant.

I guess any vehicle can attain that if they choose to upshift to a high gear on a flat/downward grade for that brief period. How does that affect your tank average?

@OVTune , the shift points are perfect in my opinion, but when you open up the option for tune customization, would it be possible to allow the truck to upshift at 25-30mph based on load? So if I'm at 25mph on a flat stretch and there isn't much load it would upshift to 4th instead of sitting in 3rd?

I finally have time to do the tune today. I just want to confirm one thing, I don't need to write TCU file if I already have 1.03 tune installed correct? I believe I read that earlier.

Yes you are just flashing the ECU for the 1.04 tune. Also, at about 150-250 miles is when the tune really starts to shine and you notice mpg gains

That is my only complaint, if you want to call it that, with 1.04, feels like it should shift a little sooner to 4th from third under light throttle. I don't cruise at that speed to often, but I could see it as being annoying to those that do.

I didn't think I needed to reflash TCU but I did anyway. Only took another minute.

    In progress.... And getting better!
About 200 miles so far on 1.04 91 and I an digging the tweaks that were made over 1.03. Smooth tip in on throttle is fantastic especially in commute traffic. Holding gears up to the right range depending on load put on engine. I’ve used it in all settings now. D with ECT on& off and same for S mode. Either way, having ECT mode on and this truck is a whole different beast! For those of you having issues with your tranny staying in 5th too long, put it in S mode and force the shift. That’s how I made it happen.

I know the truck is still learning, so I can’t wait to see how the mileage improves. If not, who cares? I purchased a truck. Not a fuel efficient car.

FTFY, lol. Asking for decent mileage is not a ridiculous request in a mud sized truck, unless it’s loaded up with heavy armor. I’m still not 100% sure I’ll get this tune, as I’ve been watching the thread from the beginning. It will be interesting to see what continual improvements can be made. The tune is definitely moving in a good direction.

You clearly don't understand the term troll then.

I'm giving feedback for the tune based on changes made from 1 revision to another. I'm not doing it to piss people off, others are wanting the same changes made.

Very funny. Thanks for correcting what I had written. It’s funny cause it’s true. Toyota should have gone with the 4.0 or at least completed the tune, but alas they were cheap and wanted to rush out the Gen 3. Bad Toyota! I agree that you should definitely get the tune when it’s available. You will not be disappointed.

Here's my best ever trip average (Stock tune, mileage loop):

    IMG_0693.jpg

NO, not tank average. NO, I don't get this on my daily commute. Ideal conditions, grannying it for max MPG. Don't get butthurt, I just did it to see what was possible. AGAIN, I don't get near this day to day. Please re-read that last part lol.
