Access Cab Storage Organization

@docloco what ballpark price would we be looking at for a pannel about 10.5"x18"? The bottom would need much longer spaces. Didn't take my tool bag out to get a good measurement but that's roughly the size. Understand it is just a swag pending actual measurements.

 

It has plenty of room, but I want it taller for just a bit more and to satisfy my ocd if I hard mount the panel.

I am going to work on making a taller panel then powdercoat it and stand it off the plastic panel with probably 1/2” - 3/4” bosses. If someone made and offered the same solution I would buy for sure, or if someone want me to make a few extra sets, I could probably look into that too.

Here is the size of the panel unloaded for a scale of size. Width is pretty good, just taller.

 

hard to accurately say off the top of my head, but probably less than $100. I’ll work on a more accurate quote and get back with you as soon as I can.

@machspeed what dimensions would you recommend? I am thinking just shy of the top of the plastic and leave some room on the bottom. What do you think?

That looks great! The size looks good based on comparing the number of holes. I bet there will be some good interest in it.

The unique thing with it is the spacer on bottom would have to create a larger gap to account for the plastic not being straight. Anxious to see what it looks like.

There's more to come too. Currently working on a bed storage mounting system. (not MOLLE though)

 

I took the OPs idea and went a bit nutz with it since I can't just leave well enough alone. I think I used 3/8" plywood. Also cut a chunk of 3/8" aluminum (roughly 11x8in) to cover the gap between the to factory compartments. It's perfect for an offroad jack plate. Wanted to have easier access to the pistol safe so I cut the plywood and made a hinged access panel with magnetic tabs so that the entire thing still lifts up when you want it to. Bought the smallest turnbuckles I could find to secure the back side of the plywood to the child restrain bracket just under the backseat panel. Found an upholstery shop downtown here that matched the interior carpet perfectly. Toolboxes are perfect for this. Can fit my hitch, shackles, snatch block, snatch strap, tree saver, gloves, winch controller, etc all in the toolboxes. So damned convenient.

I did similar with mine. You can see it in the pics I posted but I used 3/8" thick aluminum to cover the hole where the console was. Removable to use as an off-road jack plate.

 

I am not sure. 05-08 have the covers that go all the way across. 09+ has that fugly center console

 

My Tacoma has no seats in the back, just 2 compartments. The Dewalt box will not fit with my front seats all the way back. This mod would of worked great for me, now I have to use a piece of plywood with 2&4 legs. I will cover it with indoor outdoor rug, or if I can find that speaker material, not sure what that covering is called
My measurement in the back comes to 221/2 inch wide with my seats all the way back

 

About to order this- so glad you found this, seems perfect! Just a question of how you trimmed and with what so I can order whatever I need at the same time- don't want to ruin it before off the bat, thanks!

 

Does anyone know the part # for those Dewalt boxes? They look like better quality the the ones I'm still puttin' up with.
