    If you understand Density Altitude or corrected elevation which drag racers like myself chase on race weekends then to,answer your question a 5% change in humidity can change the DA drastically

    Can you really perceive a difference of 18hp and 13lbs of torque?

    I just have a hard time believing you get performance gains without re-flashing the ECU to take advantage of the extra air/less restriction.

    Also appears I am really late, and don't have any popcorn

    Would the increase of 5 degrees air temp have the same negative impact as the humidity? Sounds like you are someone I want to chat with more on this!

    @TacoSauceHB

    I'm up in the High Desert just under a 100 miles from Huntington Beach . To give you an idea of corrected elev or Density Altitude what drag racers use check this out

    I plugged in some #'s into my computer to figure out my Density Altitude up here. I used my temp (56°) , elevation (3556') , barometric press (29.87 in hg ) and dew point ( 29°)

    I plugged those #'s in and got a Density Altitude or corrected elev of 4250' so the actual altitude up here is actually 700' higher currently

    You are correct about the resonator not forcing the air in, but it is still designed to catch some air before it enters the engine, so you would think that would cause some kind of resistance VS not having it there at all. There is a inlet and outlet so the air circulates through the resonator. How much impact it has on the airflow? No clue lol But I would find it hard to believe that doesn't alter or slow the air flow at least a little bit.

    Yep a 5° increase in temp will affect results

    Hmmm so when they switched to the run with the K&N they experienced a increase in air temp of 5 degrees, yet a decrease in humidity by 5 degrees as well. In your opinion, would those two wash each other out or does one have more impact than the other? Thanks for all the insight.

    Yes the Density Altitude and Relative Density changed . I would need to have seen the weather report at that facility to see if the DA was + / -

    @TacoSauceHB

    To give you an idea how much DA and Relative Density can screw with Drag Racers check this out !!!

    I race at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana and the tracks elevation is 1158' . Now during the summer months I've seen the DA or corrected elev as high as 8200' corrected . Try and get a car to run the #'s in that thin air is hard

    As for the stock intake, the charcoal filter (the filter after the actual air filter) is not a resistance point because it's before the intake tube and the surface area is greater than the intake tube size so unless that filter has a really high flow resistance the amount of air available to the tube itself should be the same regardless if the filter is there or not.

    So you are saying this piece of material the air has to pass through has absolutely zero impact on the airlfow?

    Care to elaborate? Or did you skip to the 7th page without reading anything lol. The thread is just getting started but already some good stuff being shared if you read it all.

    Everybody has a hard time believing it lol hence why I started this thread. I even booked a Dyno test soon to continue my research.
