    I think for a DD with 31s doing a lot of highway driving I would be better off with the 4.10s. The same housing would work you think so I can just swap out the Ring/pinion? or do I have to get a full front/rear axle assy.

    4.10s in your truck will put your rpm at 70mph at just over 2600rpm. 4.56 would be just over 2900rpm. For 31s I would probably stick to 4.10s but if you think you ever want to go larger, maybe 4.56 is the way to go. You can just do ring and pinion swap. East Coast Gear Supply can get you set up.

    With 31's, I would try to find a set of OEM 4.30's. The closer you are to 3k rpm on the freeway, the more powerful the 3rz will be. Either way though, the gears will make a big difference. Also, you can correct your speedo with a Dakota Digital sgi-5e. I used one on my truck and it reads perfect now.

    Talked to ECGS and the guy said I got a "reverse clamshell" for the front which is odd since the site says its for 05+ tacomas. Regardless if that is the case and I actually have that style they do actually sell a 4:30 ratio as well. Waiting for him to email me the links to the parts he described so I can price it out.

    Throw a TruTrac in there as well, if it is in the budget. Since you're pulling it all apart.

    Nothing is truly "in the budget" LOL....I do suffer a very serious case of "While I'm In There" syndrome. So I may have to look at it.

    Honesty I think 4.10s would be fine with the 5 speed and 31s. Your final rpm will be 2600 at 70mph. Maybe if you plan to run 33s go 4.30.

    @smmarine and I would have to get a new carrier for the rear I'm pretty sure. The front is fine, according to the parts diagram the front carrier stays the same but there is a different part number between the the 2 pinion/ring sets....however for the rear...it looks like the carrier and pinion as an assembly are different part numbers between the 2.

    @Torspd

    If I'm gonna do it I would do high boost and call it a day. I'm building a new motor with all forged internals at the moment.

    Haha I have it disassembled at the moment bagged up and I'm soda blasting all the parts before I send them off to the machine shop. Haven't ordered a single part as of right now as I am cleaning everything. I'll post some pics up when I have a chance for sure ;)

    I am in the middle of disassembling an N26 BMW 2.0 Turbo motor (timing chain failure) which is taking up my engine stand and time as well as I am seeing if I can salvage it. No smashed valves so that's a start. Once I'm done with this one I'll be back on my 3RZ.

    P.S. The 3RZ out of my truck has 310K miles on it....and I can STILL see all the cross etching from the honing on the cylinder walls. Virtually no wear at all. Impressive if you ask me.

    Lucky on the N26. I had to replace every exhaust valve on my M52.

    The 3rz is a beauty of masterful engine building. Very little mods and can make gobs of power. Can't wait to see where your build goes.

    My close friend just picked up a 3rz Tacoma. Big plans in the works to handle the high boost kit as well.

    That blows! Well the funny thing is nobody has done a rebuild on this motor as of yet (N26). These are JUST coming out of warranty and blowing up so even TIS doesn't have any torque specs or guides on how to rebuild it. Also, the Bentley manual lacks a lot of stuff as well. They expect you to take it to the dealer.

    I love the 3RZ. Just needs a little help to get a little more ass. LCE makes good build kits. I'm not doing anything crazy I am essentially building it for a bulletproof NA build so that if I wanted to SC it I will have 0 issues/concerns no matter how much boost I throw at it. I am planning on doing a full restoration on that truck in the future to get it to as factory as possible with a few upgrades that you can't see. Thing was built in 06/95 and I'm the second owner with all original paperwork so I want to keep the originality. Hence the lack of winch/armor setups.

    I have yet to get mine to really have any punch, it has its moments here and there with the SC on but I still don't feel much punch. Still waiting for the ECU to do whatever it thinks it has to do. I did make an oil leak though haha, crankcase pressure definitely went up a wee bit.

    Clutch fan on mine sucks up power. With the supercharger the under hood temps skyrocketed, and the clutch fan almost always engages at a stop in the summer time. And it sucks up a lot of power.
