I actually looked into doing a line-x to a whole car before...there are some downsides with cleaning and repair stuff if needed from what I found when reading forums where people had actually done it. One of those things that looks really cool, sounds really cool and might even be really cool. Until it isn't and you're truck is ruined

Looked into wrapping the cap instead pf painting, as an idea... not sure it'll be "worth it" because of the two prices I've gotten back so far.

No way, i’d definitely paint it. There is a place around here that will paint it for $350-400, or at least that’s what he quoted me a couple years ago for my F150 cap. You’ll have every bit of that into a good quality vinyl wrap, as you’re finding out. If you want to go less expensive, just plasti-derp it black.

@Noelie84 is the remote start kit you have the 12volt.solutions one? Plugs into the back of the OBD II and also to the back of the headlight switch?

We'll squirt it black, no problem. Probably have at most a couple hundred when we are done with sandpaper, sealer, base coat, and clear.

A quality wrap will work too. Never done it but I always wanted to try!

 

Definitely up for the squirting it black. Honestly I just wanted to get an idea of how much wrapping would cost, just for shits and giggles. Not worth it in my opinion.

 

I have the one for the taco and it works great, have been using it all winter. Can't comment on it for Ford, but figured I'd throw that out there. Pretty easy install too.

I miss my remote start. It was SO useful, but with the new truck I'd remote start my truck into the woods, a tree, another car, a schoolbus full of children, etc.

 

Just leave it in neutral with the parking brake engaged.

 

I could never remember to do that, breaking that habit would be difficult.

 

I can't bring myself to trust that. I always leave my truck in gear, it just helps me feel that much better about it not rolling away.
