I Always have to argue with them about how much they want to renue.

 

I dropped them because I got tired of the bullshit. Have two large thumb drives, and my playlists cycle much slower than theirs.

 

I can dig. I've never figured out how to play music from a USB on my truck and it frustrates me.

I typically end up paying ~$100 for a year since that's about what I played my first year and I always say I'm not paying more for the same service.

Basically rolling on some "promotional" pricing for nearly 4 years

 

That’s how they get you. Then you cancel, then they offer a deal. Just stop the bullshit and offer actual decent pricing and watch how many more customers they get.

Make sure you're using a USB 2.0 drive. 3.0's seem slower in the stock head unit for whatever reason. Then go to "Songs" on the USB menu and select the "Random" button at the bottom. Works great and you get all the music you actually like.

Yes to USB 1.0 and 2.0. I've had success with drives from 1GB all the way up to 16GB. You can organize in folders, too. You might need to spend some time editing metadata in the MP3 files, but in the long run it will be worth it. Don't have more than about 300 files in a folder; my Entune unit doesn't like that. I have a super huge playlist in multiple folders but I'd edited all the songs to have the same album name (000 SUPER PLAYLIST) in each folder, so in the truck it simply displays as an album with like 1200 songs.

I've got it down pat, Chad, so gimme a shout if you get stuck.

 

I've been using a 128 GB 2.0 stick for some time. Folders are by artist > album > song. It can take a few minutes for the head unit to recognize the stick, though, so I can see where going with a smaller stick would be an advantage.

 

I was afraid to try bigger. I bought a 32GB stick (a cheap one) that weirded out and software write protected itself on me, so I'm sticking with higher quality USB drives now.

USB or streaming off of Amazon music here. When XM called to renew my demo they ask me how I liked it. Told them I liked it so much I changed the HU to one that didn't have Sat radio on it. They still called me for 6 months making offers.
