I'm running a JL w3v2 off a JL 250/1v2 and it sounds great, I would not use a pioneer amp or any other company that uses a max power rating. also the JL 250/1 fits under the front seats

Thanks that was the other amp I was looking at using, thanks for the advice. You just can't go wrong with JL components. Thanks again.

Either of the Pioneer amps would be fine. The larger one may be a tad too much actually.

    Ill-informed.

Pioneer does print the max power rating on the amp, but they also have the CEA-2006 rms power rating printed on the box to the amps. Compareing this rating with any other amp with the same cea-2006 power rating for rms on the side of the box is an apples to apples comparison to rms power at a given ohm load. Regardless of brand.

The pioneers will also fit under the seat.......well the smaller one will.

I am not saying the Pioneer is as good as the JL audio. JL makes great stuff. Power output on the smaller pioneer is comparable to the JL. But the JL quality may be better (more power reserves, more headroom, clearer sound).

I was simply stating that I would not use a company that has a max rating in big bold numbers their amp

the guy at my local audio store was talking about powering 2 of the jl 1v2 10" with a xr 1s so that would have enough power im sure for the 8"
