    I wouldn't worry with patching it man. Just schedule an inspection and get it replaced. Mine is a new truck since replacement. You wouldn't believe the difference in stiffness. There's no more flex under load and its Solid.

    After a few months of a newly installed frame, I already am seeing some surface rust at some of the shock tower welds. It's not too bad, but it looks like I'll be buying some fluid film and applying once a year. Just a reminder that a new frame doesn't eliminate any new rust, even if you live in California.

    Mines the same way. Believe it or not, Every single Tacoma on my Loacal Dealers lot has that same 'Fisheye' that is only over the welded portions of the frame. If you crawl under the truck and look around you'll notice it targets ONLY the welds. This tells me that the Manufacturer, (Metalsa), has either dipped the frames in the coating tank before sufficient cooling of welds, not properly cleaned welds prior to rustproofing, or BOTH.
    I feel in another few years we'll be seeing this rust issue rear it's ugly head, Again.
    Clean it, Coat it, Maintain it, Religously...

    I don't have pictures of my underneath of my 2006 double cab 4x4 but it looks as clean as this post. Mine was owned in Arizona its entire life until i purchased from a dealer in Colorado. It has just gotten new leaf springs before I purchased.

    Monday is the day ,new frame . Replacing all rubber hoses and thermostat . Adding Energy Suspension body , sway bar ,rack bushings in red . Timbren SES rear bump stops too !

    Mine's in for frame replacement now. I ordered the 6 pack of fluid film from Amazon and am spraying the frame as soon as it's back in my hands.

    Surprise call from the dealer. My frame showed up yesterday. They started tearing it down today and it'll be done next week. May take till Thursday between 4th of July and all of the rusty hardware.

    Damn. You guys must live in some salty places. Not sure if it's been mentioned yet in this thread, but Fluid Film spray is amazing for rust prevention and for inhibiting further rust (i.e. you can spray it on already rusted areas). I recently sprayed my frame and it's been awesome. It does smell kind of weird, and if you get any on the exhaust it will smoke a bit for a few days. Small price to pay for rust prevention. It's not permanent because it's a lanolin-based oil, but it's easy to apply and you don't have to worry about covering anything before spraying (except maybe your brakes). I got a few cans at Lowes.
