Starting beginning of this week, Scout is acting totally crazy. Screen is blank on home screen,
    IMG_4161[1].jpg
when running app on head unit, all I get is a grayed out map - no Favorites, Recent buttons

    IMG_4163[1].jpg

I have rebooted the head unit over a dozen times, forgotten my phone, re-added it back a dozen times, rebooted my iPhone 7 a dozen times. NOTHING will get this POS working. My wife's iPhone does same thing, so it has to be the head unit. It was pretty worthless before - now it is downright USELESS. Is there any way to reset the head unit and remove the ScoutGPS app and re-download it to the head unit? Thanx

I thought our rigs could not use scout app or any gps app. Thought that was only on other Toyota models right now? OP, is the scout app on your head unit or on your phone?

I have the scout gps on my 2016. I’ll check it out later today and see if it’s working. Maybe it’s an iOS issue... few of my apps stopped working last time I updated the version.

I have not upgraded to iOS 11 yet - because of all the Bluetooth issues reported!
And the ScoutGPS link is available on the Entune Audio Plus system. It has never been very good but usable. Now it is a waste of bits on my systems. Forgot to add I have removed my phone and re-added it a dozen times also. Also removed the app from my phone and reinstalled. No joy.

So, I dropped my truck off this morning for the stutter when slightly accelerating after dropping back to 20mph and the ScoutGPS link - would you believe that NOT ONE SM had any idea how ScoutGPS works?? How in the hell can an SM write a decent problem report for the tech if they have no idea how the technology works? I don't have a good feeling about this!

It’s the terrible app and only option for head unit GPS us poor folk get. Phone GPS is about 10,000 times better than that app.

Yeah, if only you could project your phone GPS on your head unit along with touch capabilities!

Got it. Thanks! Not poor people though. If I didn't have to use my truck for hauling around customers every now and then I would be rocking the SR5 or SR. Simple is better.
However, I did do a super cheap mod that is pretty amazing (to me) for my cell phone mount. It's called a NATO mount and it's like $19. I didn't want some high dollar huge phone mount that just sticks out there all the time, so I found this one and it's perfect. It puts your phone right beside the Entune screen so if you wanted to use the phone GPS it is perfect for that, and I have used it for GPS too. Super simple and cheap. Here is a link and if you want I will take a pic of where I mounted it. https://www.amazon.com/Nato-Smart-M...d=1524236613&sr=8-1&keywords=nato+phone+mount the best part is how thin the plate is that sticks on the back of the phone. Can't tell it's there. Also it won't bounce off the mount even off road. I tried haha.

Welcome! The poor people part was just a jab at us SR and SR5 owners ha Although my taco is starting to reduce my bank account...haha

That little thing looks pretty solid! Two of my coworkers use similar devices for their phones. I’ll have to pick one up eventually.

Do you worry about magnetic mounts damaging the compass sensor in your phone?

I use the head unit GPS all the time. Never had a single issue. Almost two years now.

I'll let you know if the app update actually fixed it. I don't have faith that they even know how to work it!

And I haven't updated to iOS 11 yet!
