Unless they are the extended version. In that case add 1" to those numbers. Non -extended should be 16 exposed threads and extended travel should be 27 exposed threads/ 1.925" of exposed threads which equates to a 3/2" for 2nd/3rd gen, respectively.

Supposedly it's a 1 for 2 with the lift. Meaning, if you adjust the threads .5" then it'll equal to a 1" increase in lift. This is supposed to be true after the initial 16 exposed threads but who knows if it's true. I haven't done it myself using this equation.

So whats the consensus? 1" or 2" out of the box for a 3rd gen?

Can anyone who has the fox 2.0 kit speak to the average maintenance interval?

I’m very interested in the kit if it rides better on road than an OME or 5100 kit )(does it?) but I don’t want to have to send these out every year or two for rebuilding....

Thanks for sharing any personal experiences.

    Post 211 explains this. Again.
They are the same C/O's for 2nd & 3rd gen but the 3rd gen comes 1" lifted from factory, hence the 1" difference adding the exact same C/O's.

    Cool, thanks.

I have used several Fox products in the mtn bike world over the years, and in general they need to be serviced once a year, maybe I've gone 2 years...so this had me a little worried.

The other question was about ride quality; I do not offroad regularly other than occasional beach driving. This is essentially my daily driver.
I appreciate a controlled ride that's firm but doesn't pound the crap of me on potholed pavement.
Is there a noticeable ride improvement over something like the 5100s or OME dampers?

I wouldn't be able to speak on the comparison to 5100s or OME as I had never had them, but from my stock OR suspension to my Fox set up is night and day. A huge improvement. On road and especially off road.

On my 5th gen 4runner they rode much better than the 5100s I had before. I have seen them need service within 15k due to leaks, BUT just like their mtb and mx shocks they are completely rebuildable. Simple enough that they are rebuildable in your garage if you want.

If you get the fox with clickers make sure the clickers feel like there are actual detents. I have seen two fresh out of the box(tacomas a few months apart) that would just spin and not actually adjust the coilover.

The mounting bike stuff is made to be extremely light and to perform as best as possible which usually means seals that wear quickly and need frequent service.

Off-road stuff (for Tacoma's) is made to be more durable.

The ride quality between Fox and Bilstein is drastically different.
If you have particular preferences we can tune them accordingly.

    Thanks for the input fellas.

The general consensus I've read in these threads is ride quality of stock trd < 5100 < OME
I would guess OME< Fox 2.0.... but I've found no data to actually support this.

The ICON entry line kit is about $200 more than the Fox. Anyone have experience with the ICONs?

Start all the way negative for the softest ride possible and adjust accordingly. I am currently at 4 clicks away from all the way negative on all 6 clickers. I adjust all the way to negative if I'm going to stay on road.

    Hope that helps.
