Thanks for all the compliments guys!

It's been working really well! I actually just used it yesterday to power a framing nail gun for a mountain biking stunt that I built. The regulator and quick release port work out awesome under the hood. I've also used it to air up tires (both bike and truck) numerous times. It's one of my favorite additions.

There is a pressure switch on the tank that turns on the compressor. I wanted a master switch so that I could control exactly when the compressor will run. If the master switch is on, and the pressure in the tank is below 120psi, then the compressor switches on. If the master switch is off and the pressure drops below 120psi, the compressor will not switch on until I flip the switch.

On my old system, I got tired of my compressor switching on every single time I turned the truck on. There are always small leaks and tanks lose pressure. I had no way to stop it. I like to have absolute control over all my accessories so they don't drain power or turn on when I don't want them too. I also have a master switch on my in-cab power inverter.

How long does it take to inflate your tires from trail to street pressures?

I'm looking at building a box in the bed of my truck to house everything. I'm willing to sacrifice a little space if the setup will work well. In the past I have always used co2 tanks from power tanks. I'm looking for that good of performance or better.

Before this system I had a dedicated setup for the train horn. It sucked. Part of the reason I wanted to upgrade my air system to this. I didn't take pictures of the horns though. The horns are mounted right behind the valance of the front bumper. It's served me well numerous times. White-knuckling tards that pull out in front of you is always worth it:)

Tank doesn't hang out near as low as the spare tire did and I've never rubbed my spare tire so it should be ok.

    Thanks!

    very sweet install!

I was almost going to get this gauge, but saw your post. Would you recommend getting another one? I'm not looking to spend too too much.

Also, did you get an a-pilar gauge pod? how is it mounted?

    Thanks for the props!

As for the gauge, it has held up well thus far. It's accurate and hasn't had any electrical issues. My main complaint was the bezel, it is paper thin metal that can dent easily with your fingers if you push too hard. The wiring is a bit confusing and cumbersome because you have to attach like three separate wires to one power feed. One of them is for memory as well so you have to use it if you want your color choice to stay the same every time you turn your ignition back on. Just seems like they could have consolidated some of the wiring.

The gauge pod is one that I made. I still haven't gotten around to finishing it either. I made a mess of it by sanding the original finish and it was going to be too much of a hassle to have it wrapped. And I by no means am a successful fiberglass fabricator. It is so hard to work with and shape properly. I'm thinking of going to a Lotek pod instead of dealing with finishing mine.

Here's some pics of the pod build:

thanks for the pics! the gauge looks a lot cooler than some of the other cheaper ones I've found. I like how it has different colors to match the dash, as oppose to just white. but it's something to consider with the cheap bezel.

And I've been looking for an a-pilar gauge pod for one gauge, but have only found one for 2 gauges like the lotek one. making one like you did is probably something I wont try to tackle lol. never done fiberglass work at all.

I agree, it looks the best of the more inexpensive gauges. The orange matches the OEM color very well.

Unfortunately if you want a pillar with only one pod, you gotta make it. And it's not fun or easy. Maybe a local custom car audio shop could fab one up with your existing a-pillar? I the one that I modded was a spare that I bought on the forum so I still have my original.

Keep us posted if you decide to get one or have one made.

Excellent job. On the to-do list for when I move and thus be able to actually off-road more, making something like this worthwhile. +1 for the clear and concise write up!
