    I’m at iOS 11.3

Hard to correlate exactly, but started around the time I installed the last update.

You used the compass on your phone while it was attached to the magnetic mount?

I have an Evutec phone case (which I highly recommend, btw) and have the magnetic mount that pairs with it. Doesn’t affect the compass.

OK - so picked up my truck - same issue! I got shop manager to come look. We finally got it to work, but NOW it has to have the iPhone app running BEFORE I start my truck - I swear I have just walked to my truck and got in and turned the ignition on before and it would automatically launch the app! And another weird thing - the box around Home and Work is now BLUE! It used to be yellow!
Anyway, the shop manager went back and got an update for my head unit and installed it.

So - couple of questions: Am I crazy that for 9 months I just started my truck and it connected with Scout on my iPhone automatically?? For 9 months? Also, am I crazy that the box around the Home and Work info when displayed on home screen was YELLOW??

    Thanx guys.

You’re not crazy. That’s how mine worked...before it stopped working.

Thanx! Was the line around the home and work when you display scout on the home screen yellow or blue?

BTW I have scout version 1.0.59 (iOS)

Well, I take that back -I don't know WHAT version I have!! When I look at Apps installed on my phone, the icon there says 1.0.59 - BUT if I click on it, it says 1.0.65!

And here's another thing -if I look at the revision history, on version 1.0.47 (Jan. 17, 2018) it says "Start navigation on your smartphone and seamlessly continue directions in your vehicle's head unit"

I have NEVER gotten this to work? Anyone?? Does it require the head unit in the 2018?

Mine is 1.0.65 in the app, and on the App Store that is the latest update. The previous version was indeed 1.0.59

Maybe I'm crazy about the blue - the Search box on home screen is yellow.

I have gotten it to consistently work with my 2017 SR5. I posted the steps in another thread here but since this one is more recent, I'll repost here...

    1. Go to the main screen on the head unit (HU).
    2. QUIT the app on the phone using the app switcher. (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330)
    3. Start Scout GPS Link on the HU
    4. Start the companion app on your phone. If the app shows the title with screen with the license agreement and safety warning, then it will connect to the head unit in around 30 seconds. If it shows any other screen, you'll need to force quit the app again and restart it.
    5. You can now use the app on the HU normally and exit back out to the main screen.

Caveat: If the phone app shows the title screen without the license and safety text in the grey box located towards the bottom, you will have to force quit the app and restart it again.

I also like to have the app on my main screen. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to get it to start consistently when the vehicle is started. If the app on the phone is left to run in the background, then it will start up on the main screen of the HU on subsequent engine restarts. As you use your phone and open more apps, iOS will eventually purge some data from the phone which will cause the app to not start when the engine is started, so you'll have to follow the procedure above again.

Perhaps TMI for some, but the app on the main screen of the HU only seems to attempt to sync once when the engine is started. However, when you start the full app from the menu, it attempts to connect to your device multiple times. I have contacted TeleNav in attempt to have a dialogue with a developer that can look into this further.

TL;DR: Follow the numbered procedure above to get the app working correctly.

So took truck to dealer last week - Here's the scoop:

Before a ScoutGPS update (which ALSO updates the APP on the head unit if it needs it!) I did NOT have to have ScoutGPS running when I got into my car and started it. The head unit could access Scout on my iPhone anyway. Well, after an early April update to Scout, you now HAVE to have Scout running BEFORE you start your truck! If you don't, you have to turn off the truck, kill the app if you tried connecting it AFTER you started the truck (will NOT work!), fire the app back up, THEN start the truck. What a total POS they have turned this into. The shop manager did install a head unit update, but this did not affect the Scout app at all.

Here’s the reply I received after complaining to Telenav:

    Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. Un-Pair Device BT connection from the Head Unit
    2. Uninstall Scout GPS Link from Phone
    3. Power the Phone off , wait 20 seconds , power phone back on
    4. Install Scout GPS Link from the App Store on phone & go through first time setup

    * Go through first time setup:
    1. Allow to recognize your location always
    2. Please login with an email or create acct with email3. Allow to Sync contacts
    4. Allow Scout GPS Link to send notifications .
    5. Power vehicle on
    6. Pair Device BT connection to the Head Unit
    7. Open scout app on head unit ( Apps>Scout)
    8. Enter a destination
    9. Tap search
    10. Tap GO or DRIVE

Also advice that Scout GPS Link app has to be running on phone first before powering vehicle on,with 50% or more of battery on phone ,and Scout GPS Link app will need data to work (1MB for every 15 miles).
Should issue persist, feel free to contact Toyota/Lexus support, so that a live agent may assist you further.
