Long Travel BS Thread

F that, I had to wait to long. Also I have spindle gussets but I’m sick of working on the truck and just want to drive the it. Once I can drive it for a bit I’ll weld in the gussets. I’ll look into uca gussets.

 

My fenders are from Advanced. Measuring inside the lip for how far the clip would push on without starting to spread and climb the curve of the corner, it's about 1/2". The flat outside portion of the lip is about 3/4". The lip measures a bit over 0.1".

So contrary to what almost everyone on here will say but I would start with 63" chevy springs under axle and a 12" shock. then mount the shock on a long mount on the axle then lay the shock back and build a mount there. It won't be vertical and optimal but it will work ok. I did this on my 4Runner and it worked good. Again, it wasn't ideal but it worked.

 

For those with DMZ SUA kit, what is the angle on your diff and how do you measure it?

 

If you don’t have any vibrations currently, measure your current pinion angle at ride height and match it when you install the new perches. It’s pretty simple. Just make sure the truck is setting at the same height it was when you took your preliminary measurements.


Otherwise you’ll need to set the pinion to your own truck by setting all your driveline angles. I wouldn’t use someone’s else’s measurement. No guarantees their truck is setup just like yours

Second post. This is how I did it, but didn't bother tacking them and test driving. I said f it and called it good.

 

If you read the install instructions it’s very straight forward

 

I doubt he has them since this is a redo of the original install

 

I do have them and nowhere it says how to do it. Do you have a copy you can snap a pic?

Yeah I had a talk with Tim yesterday, I got the perches and shock mounts from him. He was talking around 5° but then again to be sure some driving has to be involved plus it varies from truck to truck. Not to mention slip yoke is needed. Gotta call driveline shop.

 

Ah yeah if you need to add the skip yoke then it may be a little different.

 

If you can’t follow Tim’s instructions on this you probably shouldn’t be doing a lot of things. His instructions give you step by step and pictures. No math involved.
