Hola amigo!

 

What’s happening?

 

Weekend.

 

So along this line of thought ... I’ve been running the numbers the past week ... we’re very likely going to take early retirement in 5 yrs 4 months and move to Arizona to be near the grandkids. Kinda why I haven’t been here much...lots of mulling it over and research.

I never thought I’d leave Alaska and that I’d work this job to 65 or 67, but I want to be part of their lives more than a few times a year before they’re all grown.

I said on here before how I was scared to retire because of two very close older friends who retired at 65 and died within 6 months after ... well, I had an epiphany ... what if I’m one of those guys who is gonna die @65 ... and retiring has nothing to do with it? 7 years of taking my grandkids fishing and camping and whatever on a regular basis beats the heck outta working fulltime ‘til I die.

So that’s where my mind has been lately...

Thanks Martin ... gonna trade fulltime work and part time fishing/hunting for full time fishing and some kind of part time “keep grandpa outta trouble” gig. Maybe our paths will cross IRL somewhere down the line.

 

Heck, your just the kinda guy we need down here. Balance out some of these Chicago libtards and Kaliforia marxists trying to take over the state.
And you’ll wind up so busy down here you’ll forget to die at 65.

Very possible.

I'm trying to dial in my retirement exit strategy and get my seasonal gig off the ground. Kinda my plan when I retire is to have my winters to do what I want and work a few hours during the summer. I picked up another client this year so I'm up to 4. I'm sure I can pick up a lot more if I applied myself but I don't want to get too many. Next winter I'll probably hustle a little harder to build numbers because next summer I'm sure I'll have more time for it...gotta keep a comfortable balance between current career, future income and time off.

 

Uuugh ... that’s some complicated emotions there.
