So I know there are tons of threads about sliders on TW. I am in the market for some. I have narrowed it down to RCI or Mobtown. Both seem like great products. As most of you know, sliders are pricey; therefore I’m trying to make the best decision. I like the looks of the RCI sliders the best, but the mobtown sliders appear to be built better. I like how the gussets are placed appropriately on mobtown’s sliders. I don’t know if that is a big deal or not, but it just shows you Mobtown pays attention to detail. How much of a load would it take to damage the gussets on sliders? Will the weight of sliders damage stock suspension? I plan on going off roading, but nothing to the extreme. I mainly want sliders to protect the rockers on my truck for when I do go off roading and I want to use them as steps for my wife and kids. What are y’alls opinions? Thanks.

When I was looking at slider I was looking at NFab RKR sliders because they come with side steps that you can put on and take off when you want. Nice for a lifted truck

Thanks for considering our sliders. I’ll give you my thoughts.

A lot. We place our gussets at the edge of the tube because it makes sense. It’s the little things. But you are unlikely to cause a failure to the tubing either way.

No. I don’t think so. Sliders weigh less than a passenger, but the weight is distributed better.

Good luck. I’m sure you’ll be happy with which ever you choose.

Mobtown out of the brands you listed. But that’s mainly due to the mounting system. They are both angled up though, which will make them not as practical as steps, but better at saving you from door dings (not that any slider or step is very good at that though)

BTW, They are not sliders, they are simply side steps.

Yup a friend has them (the nfab) on his 4Runner. The kind with the removable steps. They look like slides but they attach to the body not the frame. So don’t count on those to actually save your vehicle.

I have my Mobtowns on order. Worst part about them is the wait...

We have an option to build them without the angle.

How well do these do if you line-x them? For more grip and less scratching as s step? Should they be powder coated first then line-x’d? Sorry if this is a dumb question in advance.

I love my BAMF (bay area metal fab) sliders!!
And I’d just use the rustoleom bed liner can spray to coat yourself. If you scratch off the line x it’ll be very hard to patch and look nice and would start to peel up.

I’ve got sos concepts sliders bolt ons perfect fit didn’t have to drill or mod anything just paint. They are heavy duty an angled up going to put grip tape on them.

I go with the rusoleom also, when ever you happen to use those sliders the line-x will definitely get messed up.

I use Krylon "Semi-Flat Black". It blends well when doing touch up. (Which you will be doing if you off road at all)

    AllPro bolt on's.
