Hi community. I just got a 2014 v6 auto 2wd SR5 and i want it to tow my Evo x to the track. i was looking into the superchargers and wanted some input on the subject. What superchargers are recommended? Any plug and plays? Are fuel pumps required...91oct? where to go to have it done (I'm in Oc, Cali)(dealerships))? Does it need tuned (what tuner or OB2 plugin/map reset? Injectors? Exhuast required (replacing cats(all4))? Intake or just K&N filter replacement

I'm not looking to romp this thing through dirt or race STI's. I dont want it over modified like my car, as that has already been a pain in the buns. Im just simply looking for some extra power to tow/haul and to pass arrogant people on the road that seem to speed up after they realize you're passing them because they are not doing the speed limit.

You're in CA so first and foremost, you'll want to stay smog legal or deal with the consequences every 2 years.....which means.

    1. Magnuson Supercharger (Tacoma) the only CARB legal blower....(comes with larger injectors)
    2. Get the URD 2.85" stealth pulley
    3. Get the OVTune software for the supercharger instead of the BullyDog (BD) tune
    4. Get the URD fuel pump upgrade kit with your choice of pump
    5. Get Doug Thorley short tube headers (CARB Legal) with whatever cat-back exhaust that fits your fancy

If you want to tip-toe the line of smog legality
    1. Get the TRD Gen1 or aFE intake of the same design
    2. Get the URD y-pipe

Thank you gentlemen. I got a guy that smogs my Evo. But Yes, I'd prefer the truck to not be as aggressive. So thank you for the input.

I just installed a Magnuson SC and it is a great, reliable option to really wake up the 4.0 v6. The install is not difficult if you are comfortable wrenching. You can get the complete SC kit a without the BD tune that is typically provided and save yourself some money. There currently 3 decent tune options and the general consensus is:

BD Tune < Dealer TRD Tune < OVTUNE (handheld but DIY tuning software pending).

Even though Toyota discontinued the TRD stamped magnuson superchargers, the dealerships still have the software to give you the TRD tune for around $100-200, which is the cheapest tuning option. OVTUNE is still in development, but the early results show a nice improvement over the TRD tune with potential for much more.

You can get a decent, reliable performance gain doing just the magnuson SC while keeping stock intake, exhaust, and fuel pump, but it's up to you how far to take it after that and there are a lot of reliable upgrade options that have been vetted by members in this forum. I'll warn you though, just doing a SC does not make the mod "itch" go away.

@inwood customs Of course, UCON is another solid option - with additional upgrades required:)

I should've clarified 3 decent flash tunes for only installing a Magnuson SC kit at a bare minimum.

And no maggy stock for me.... yet :)

But I do believe URD has the best price on one with forum discount.

Just a note for Cali. If you want the CARB sticker with the Magnuson SC then you NEED to get it with the bullydog tuner.
Doesn't mean you need to run that tune but its the only way they will give you the CARB sticker.

Which reminds me I need to contact them and get my sticker.
