Paint sealant

Im looking for a “user friendly” paint sealant. Something that’s effective but easy to use. Any suggestions?

 

My personal favorite paint sealant is Menzerna Power Lock. I believe you will now find that it's been re-branded as Jescar Power Lock. Same stuff, new packaging. And yes, it's easy on and easy off.

 

That's great stuff. They make the Wolfgang line and those are good products as well.

Collinite 845 is what I have used

 

McKee's HiDef Paint Sealant is a good one. You can remove right after applying to the whole vehicle, or you can wait 24 hours and it's still super easy to remove. Very nice gloss and slickness. Great durability. FYI for the detail fanatics out there... This sealant actually contains some SiO2, one of the ingredients in many paint coatings on the market now.

If you want REALLY easy... go with a spray on wipe off sealant. Optiseal or the new Blackfire SiO2 Spray Sealant. There's also Meguiars Fast Finish. You simply spray on and wipe off, like washing a window. They have great gloss but won't last as long as a traditional sealant. But you should still get 3-6 months, depending on the environment and how often you wash your truck... These are nice because you can apply again whenever you want and it literally takes 5-10 minutes. So, the longevity isn't really an issue when it's so easy to just apply another coat.

Does PL stain trim? I can't remember.

 

I've never had a problem with it, but I'm pretty careful not to get it on there.

 

Optimum Opti-Seal is the most user friendly paint sealant you will find. Just spray & wipe. No haze to buff off. You can apply it on paint, plastics & chrome. Protects them all.

this stuff is awesome. I wash weekly and when, after my wash i find the smoothness of the finish starts to fade slightly I apply another coat to shine it back up and water and debris repels off this stuff! ...of course clay bar every now and again to get any build up off the paint.

 

I wasn't a believer in clay until the last year but if you think she shines with the sealants alone, take a good clay bar to it after a thorough washing then a good polish then your sealant and it'll have better staying power. You'll be amazed how much stuff you'll get off a COMPLETELY CLEAN LOOKING vehicle with a clay bar.

I've got some Jescar power lock I was going to apply following the same process. Wasn't sure what to use with my DA buffer to polish with (not sure which pad/bonnet or compound to use). Haven't used it in years, also my truck is brand new (had it for 3 weeks now) so not sure how much polishing is necessary. Any suggestions?

 

HD Polish finishes very nice on our Tacoma's. Meguiars Ultimate Polish would also be fine, it'll just require a little more wipe off than the HD. HD isn't as oily as UP and it won't dust on you.

I'd use HD in your situation. Don't use a compound. Any polishing pad will be fine. You don't need a cutting pad with a new truck and soft Toyota paint.

Using HD, you shouldn't need to do a panel wipe after polishing and before the Powerlock.
