I used this thread to set my purchase price, never mentioned trade. Brought trade in assuming I would bring it home if I didn't get what I wanted. Ended up paying under invoice (from the master list post) on the truck by several hundred. Also got $2,500 more than the book for my trade in.

I know the dealer did fine. But my salesman texted me the next day saying the general manager flipped out when he reviewed my deal(we were there until 10pm). I didn't do any additional warranty, no financing and said no to every add on.

Making you FEEL like you got a good deal is part of the art of selling. I wont call it a trick because the deal is already done but it will make you tell your friends what a good deal you got. "I got such a good deal that the manager flipped out the next day!" Now all your friends will go there.

Oh I get it. But my point is to negotiate a final price long before mentioning a trade. And if you're in a situation to bring home your trade if you know the value isn't there, do. I think the only reason it made sense for me to trade was our 9.4 sales tax. Without, there's no room for us to come to an agreement.

I have a couple offers from dealers here in Denver. I screwed up and walked on a deal that now they won’t give me. They offered me a cement 4x4 4 door TRD Sport with an Msrp of $38138 for $33411+$499 d/h fee and I left briefly to test drive a canyon. While I was there the salesman emailed me saying he screwed up and couldn’t give me that deal on the cement one. He did say though I can get any sport or off road with those options for that price. What do you guys think? I’m really ticked at myself for walking on that deal and that color is by far my favorite.

I wanted Cement and was told at a Denver dealer that they couldn't discount that color. True? Not sure, but you're not the only one who's been told that.

Yeah the dealer he is referring to is the top Toyota dealer in CO and no they will not discount cement colored Tacoma’s $1. The worst part is that they have more cements in stock then all the other Denver dealers combined.

well, it was a weird scenario. he said the manager messed up the quote but he sent it anyway. surprised they did the deal. . but a lot of these options like predator steps are overpriced anyways

Managers at car dealerships don’t “mess up deals”

Agree on steps and all other dealer/port added items. Tons of profit

    Thanks to global economy
Go over the border and get discounted trucks

Why give money to thieving dealers ?

Tons of us go to Oregon to buy our trucks since we don’t want to pay idiot la Toyota dealers

Im shopping around here in Orange County for a White SR5 4x4 DCSB ($37,179 MSRP) and the cheapest I was quoted was $33,400. Trying to get it down to $32k possibly.
