I’ve been really happy with the (progressive) Kings, can’t recommend them enough. Keeping my fingers crossed I can get a free weekend for Jambo to really stretch them out! When I bought the 12” ones you and I installed, they were literally the same price as the factory length 8” shocks, pretty much the catalyst for that whole mod. I’ve also seen that it’s possible to run a 14” shock with the same setup!

    Have you looked at ADS?

I have the tools to do it but it's what you call lazy...and I like working on a truck if it's on a lift, American DIY garage would have been 200ish so 300 wasn't a bad deal. Driveway install makes my body cringe lol

I brought in my own new parts i bought from Headstrong offroad and paid about $350 at a private local brake and wheel shop for four 5100’s to be installed with the original OEM coils up front, a Deaver single AAL, along with alignment. There are definitely less expensive labor options available out there. OP- if you also bought your parts from that shop, buying their parts and at the same time having those marked up labor costs look really bad.

I'll start by saying, their price looks a little high. But I'll follow by saying, I think a lot of ppl on this forum are not aware of how expensive it is to run a shop. There's more to it than just paying the guys to do the work. There is a ton of overhead to it. One of the biggest things is insurance. There is extra insurance you need to be able to install lifts. It's expensive. If a shop does a lot of installations than that cost is split across a lot of customers. If it doesn't, than each installation hosts a larger share of that cost. You can always do stuff yourself cheaper than a shop because you need to cut out all the cost associated with a shop. You don't have to pay employees, benefits, worker's comp, taxes, rent, insurance, loan payments. Anyway, just saying. Also, it took me about 5hr with @Mobtown Offroad helping to get the suspension done on my truck (ADS coils with remote resi's, JBA UCA's, full DAKAR leaf pack, ran out of time before we got to the extended brake lines). So about 10hrs labor, but maybe we are slow.

This is spot on, taxes, insurance, amongst other operating costs drive up labor.

Yeah that labor cost is ridiculous.

But is nobody going to say anything about the cost if the lift kit itself?! Might as well go LT for that. That’s fuckin ridiculously expensive for a toytec kit.
Could get Kings all around, ucas and a leaf pack for that price o_O

I would definitely tell that shop to fuck off. And charging for part disposal and retorque. Wow. Fuuuuuuuck them.

That is insane to pay for a lift, if you did the work yourself you could get all KING products and still save over 3500$

On a job like that I'd expect $700-$900 labour, $120 alignment and my OEM parts in my bed.

Don’t know if it’s been said, but where is his shop? I’d like to avoid at all costs.

And I have an old coworker who opened up his own shop and I really hope this isn’t his.

If you are mechanically incline I say do it your self. Or if you have a friend that is have them help you. I put my lift (UCA's, coilovers, dealers, and rear shocks) in about 5 hours. This was done by myself. I think they guys is trying to take advantage of you. Good luck man.

It took me about three hours to do mine by myself and that’s with going and buying a tap and die set to retread the stupid tie rod end.

Buy a assembled coilover setup, uca’s, and leafs, and rear shocks and we can install at @MJonaGS32 mod meet for free. You just have to become active in the norcal community.

4WP quoted me 5.5 hours labor for a complete install on an OME kit. That includes strut assembly which you won’t have on a coilover. I think they said their shop rate is $100 hr. Plus another $129 for alignment. 14 hours is insane on a 2017 where they are unlikely to run into other issues caused by wear or corrosion. Especially when they have full access to a lift and pneumatic tools.

Seems really high, Especially when you tell them to check it out because of a grinding noise. (Clamshell bushing fix) to give you an idea on time of install this is what i did.

    Full coilovers
    Ecgs clamshell bushing
    Rear leafs and shocks
    U bolt flip kit
    1 1/4 wheel spacers

Removal and install of new stuff. I started at 5 pm with a 12 pack of budlight and drove my truck to the store to test it out the ride at 11:30 to get an 18 pack because i had to clean up my garage. I had an extra set of hands from 8:30 until we got more beer. Im a hack mechanic, and an excellent drunk saying your getting fucked. Find a new place.
