Depends on the dealer and the quality/condition of the fasteners. We have done a couple bumpers and only charged a little over (when you consider what it would take to remove the stock bumper) and told other customers to take it off them selves. If you have tons of lights or a winch it might be worth doing it on our own prior. Try and talk to the tech doing it though.

Thanks guys! I'm waiting to hear back from him. Sounds like he'll be getting to Moab the same day I'm leaving there so I could get them then but if I could get them installed before my trip that would be cool but by no means necessary. They are coilovers.

    2004 thingy
I've had my share of full sized diesel trucks. I owned them all before 2007 so they were all older. I never owned a Duramax because they had know issues with cooling and towing heavy so I never considered them an option but the newer ones have cured that.

I had a D350 with a 12v. The truck was a early 90s so under powered by today's standards. I think 160hp and 350tq. This truck had 4.10s and an automatic so it was a dog on the highway, couldn't go 75. I would love to own one again because the 12v is unstoppable. No 4door options so that kinda turns me off. If I were to go this route I would have to buy a gasser from the early 80s that was 4 doors and swap in a 12v. I ditched this truck because of the transmission and it was a standard cab.

I owned a OBS F250 with a 7.3. This truck broke down on me a couple times. Known issues for my break downs, Crank sensor (known problem), Cold start relay/glow plug relay (known issues, I carried one with me) and the most expensive fix was the wiring under the valve covers shorted out (known issue with lifetime fix but it was like $700 for parts). This truck towed great, ran great unloaded. I was talked into trading over to another Dodge so this one went away. One of the ones I look back at and think I should have never let go.

Next victim was a 2001 Dodge 2500 with a 24valve. This was my 1st tow rig with a manual. Loved it every time I drove other than that one time I got stuck in 2 hours of stop and go going up the mountain passes, serious leg pain. The engine was good, no better than the 7.3 for towing, possibly slightly slower. Better fuel economy. I got rid of this one because of known issues and clutch replacement snowballed up to over 5k in repairs at one time. The VP44 went out (still ran but lost power) because the lift pump failed. The fix for the lift pump is like a 1k upgrade and the vp44 cost around 2k at that time. I wanted to like this truck more than the previous Ford but it was a looser by the smallest margin. The Ford body/interior bumps it in the lead.

Last full size ruined me for a while. 2003 F350 Dually with a shitliter, I mean 6 liter. 2 turbos, 1 transmission, 2 EGR system replacements. This is the only vehicle that ever left me stranded with no way of limping home, 3 times. When it ran right, it was strong. Fuel mileage was up there like mos diesels 18ish. The 4door body was great. I might consider this body style in a 7.3.

Best Mileage was the 2001 Dodge. Was able to get up to 23 lightly loaded on an emergency trip to get Generators to my parents and neighbors after hurricane Ivan.

Best interior was the 2 Fords. Nice seats, HVAC was fast either heating or cooling. All of them felt very cheap compared to Toyota but the Ford was the least.

Best body. OBS ford. My opinion here. I know they all have paint peeling issues.

Best ride was the OBS Ford but the Dodge actually about the same. I'd say the Dodge really wins here because it has a solid axle. Fords with that suspension are subject to tire wear without regular inspection and rotations.

If I was to buy a turn key truck I would look into the OBS Ford F350 with a 4door or SuperDuty with a 7.3l. 2003-2005 Dodge trucks with 4doors because of the family.

I'd stay away from Trucks that were chipped. I also would take great care if/when you do add a chip. The "chip" on my Dodge was awesome, had a mild tow setting only, no smoke with lower exhaust temps than stock, was good for the 2 mpg. Think it was rated at 40hp gain.

Wow, thanks for the info! You would really go with another 1 ton truck? That just seems like over kill for everything that I would do. Also fear the ride would be way too rough.

Left a deposit on the Bigfoot, pick it up next Saturday. Going to tow it back empty 5000lbs to see how the sequoia does. Going to put some airbags on before I make the trip out there and the dealer is installing a anti- sway hitch for me.

Yes, because you will quickly find out 3/4 ton trucks quickly run out of GVWR because they are only 3/4 for tax reasons. The base truck weighs the same, one has a real payload capacity with slightly higher taxes. Or you could run over GVWR and risk finding that one officer who knows and weight checks you even though you are not commercial. It sucks having to go back and get a trailer because you are over weight.

Damn, quality post. I have been thinking about getting rid of my DD car for a full size to tow with. Trucks with the 6.0 can be found for the same or less than an older one with the 7.3 but you're definitely gambling. I personally know of 3 people who own 6.0s and haven't had any of the big issues, but it's always a risk.

Can't wait for a seal to break while trying to use this on trail making it completely useless.
