Operation no more crome. I couldnt stand the crome on my trd of 4x4 so i decided to plasti dip the bumper caps and badges (i did 6 coats for bothe the bumper caps and badges and only used 1 can). While i was at it i painted the exhaust tip with some hi temp matte black header paint.

I also didnt like the stock trd decals so i decided to make my own. Let me know what you think.

I made 4 sets of the decals 3 sets of gloss black and 1set of matte black. Just incase i messed up but i was able to nail it first try. So i have 2 sets of gloss and 1 set of matte that im selling for 30$ + 5$ shipping. Send me a pm in you guys are intrested

Temperature could have something to do with it. Warm up the can in hot water (not boiling) before you spray each coat. The amount of derp you apply per coat could affect it as well. Check out this video about coats:

What is the best way to get the plastidip to match the existing plastic (such as the TRD Pro grille)?

I just dipped the emblems and while I do really like the change, I plan to do the fender flares and front "chin" piece and I really want it to match the grille in sheen as close as possible. Now I would consider the grille to be a "satin" finish -- and I read that Plastidip makes a "satinizer".

HOWEVER, I read more closely about it and it says right in the description that it does not change the sheen of the plastidip but rather just provides UV and fade protection.

I'm thinking the glossifier will be a bit *too much* sheen....

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on matching the dip to the sheen of the grille? By the way, I did my badges and they turned out excellent. Kept can in warm water between coats (30 mins or so of dry time between coats) and they're nice and smooth.

I used the Rust-Oleum version, derped the chrome bezel and logo only and the finish is damm near spot on to the finish of the stock plastic.

Nope, left them on. Used tire shine and trash bags to cover the brakes and rotors.

Yup, took extra time to tape everything off and did 5 coats. Used Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax for the shine

Whoa, that truck looks awesome man!

I wouldn't ever own a black vehicle (hot AF in the South, and hard to keep clean), but damn, that's a fine lookin' truck.

Even my Wife thought that it looks much better. There's a shock to the system.

    After two coats:
