Oh wasn't aware of that. You'd have to change columns and redo all the wiring to the switches. Even then it may not work. I'd have to study the wiring diagrams.

Going to jump into this Mod,

Wulf Bαnned: he's got a 96 Taco, stated he is not sure if the 95-97 steering stock will fit, might have to R&R the entire steering wheel unit. My Truck is the same 95 1/2 SR-5.
Took some photos, and in looks like the stock spring is separate from the rest of the Colum stock, It looks like it can be removed, a few screws holding it to the, turn / wiper unit.

Then will have to look at the cancel cam, wiper, and Turn signal unit, to see if we can fit into the new Clock Spring. Ok ''another question mark, for me, I'm looking on the other side , coming out of the 6 pin connector, clock spring is the wires that will connect to the HU for the remote there is no connectors at all, coming from my Stereo unit, I blew out the old, cd, last year, and installed a after market system, Alpine In Dash GPS Navigation Receiver, INE-960S, I was looking at a few after markets steering wheel control unit, and found one that might be a little better then the SWI-RC its called ASWC-1, I think METRO makes it, good reviews on it and does not require any hook up of diodes. Its universal just like the SWI-RC. Getting back to the original statement, lets just say that it won't work with the existing steering Colum, The MOD' Hell, the dam wiper unit, the Lights, and the Turn signal unit should be the same, all we have to do buy a used Colum unit, Junk Yard, track the function of the wire to each unit and connect then to the new pins. Not good at electrical, and not sure if Jon has made any head-Way on reading the electrical system for these Years...
    ok my 2 Cents.........:annoyed:

Did those tweeter sail panels come stock on the Limited 1995-2000, or did you retrofit them from a 4Runner?

This is very cool! Nice job and writeup! I have an 06 Camry which has a nice steering wheel with audio controls - Always wanted to swap it but didn't think it was possible. Would do it in a heartbeat if I knew the audio controls would work with my stock tacoma radio

    Hey Jon''
The Pig Tail (Yellow) connector from the Vehicle Harness, connect into the back side of the Clock Spring. It has 4 slots - 4 wires. I understand we only use 2 of those slots/pins. Looking at your photo can't tell which holes to use. Is the photo upside down? It looks like the 2 pins that are next to the 12 pin connector on the clock spring ;) that I should use. I just order the clock spring, so just going off some photos........ Since I already have the Pig Tail, it had no pins/wires in it. So I have some time today to insert the pins/ wires to it. 2nd step will be the 12 pin connector, that connects into the back side of the Clock Spring, again I have no pins/ wires for it, got 2 of the connectors free.....Since I don't have the same correct wires/ Harness colors/ of your configuration 2004. Will need some help on this one. Sure appreciate it

If you have the three wire cruise control. The new CC switch will need modified. This covers 2000 models and up. If you have an older model. I can walk you thru connecting the wires.

Ok, '''''''''' I can see the LIGHT at the end of the Tunnel. Going to back up here, on your Project.

Question: Is this required??? I think its called a Bump stock, in the steering wheel , steel plate with little dimples where the Air bag sits, It fits at the top/ inside the Steering wheel? here's a photo of it / Thanks........

Also will contact you soon, concerning the CC 2/3/4 wire setup. Will not be able to used my old one, since it can't be secured to the Mod wheel, screw holes are all jacked up. But it still has the 4 wires coming out of the back of the Clock Spring, into the Taco wire harness???.

Thats actually a vibration dampner in the steering wheel. It's a rubber mounted piece of aluminum. It's not needed. The 1st gen turn cruise control stalk wont work. It doesn't fitt the newer steering wheel.

Ok sounds good........ put a photo together for you, Jon, hope you can understand this electrical stuff????
The electrical diagram for the Older Tacos, is pretty simple. I think, only thing I do not understand is the color code of the wires. As you can see, the wires into the Clock spring are two tone color? when they leave the clock spring there a solid color. ??? Which knocks me off when I read the Diagram. I got this diagram, right out of my manual, another set of eyes, is prob. what I need, to understand. I sure appreciate it ...

The colors get all kinds of funky in all the FSM none seem to match. What i need you to do is: Use a volt meter set to ohms. One lead grounded then find out which color gets continuity when you honk horn. Check to see if any are a constant ground. Next find the one that go's to continuity when you press the on off switch on the end of the stalk. The last wire should have a resistance number in the 100's when you activate the resume, set or cancel. Tell which color does what. (the wires coming out of clock spring.) brown, white, red and green.

Looking at a 4Runner Wheel/ Radio Controls, it looks to be the same, back also. Can't tell if the CC has 2/3 wires/ Also I'm not sure if this would work with my Mod, I have three wires coming out of the back of the Clock Spring. Thanks

You have to change clock spring to newer type. Your original one will not work. That is the same switch and harness i used. There is three wires coming out of switch. The red wire is the one you modify.
