Redline quick lift struts

Well I was not looking forward to installing my hood struts because of the drilling etc. but all went well and now I just wonder as to why Toyota does not put them on from the get go. Man, what a difference. I love them. If you do not have them, I suggest you get them. It took me about an hour to install with a couple of breaks, but well worth the effort.

 

money is the reason toyota doesnt put them on from factory. i installed mine about 3 weeks ago and love them.

 

I hear you, they are definitely one of the best mods if not the best mod you can do to your Tacoma.

 

Really? You'd rather have hood struts instead of a good lift?

Of course I want a good lift, but yes for the money and practicality the hood struts are the bomb.

 

Your know your still getting install advice on the first thread you created for this, right?

 

try installing a S/C with the hood prop and see how many times you swear at it

I have them on the X, and I have the set for my new truck waiting to go on.

They are a great and fairly inexpensive mod

I LOVE the Redline QuickLifts.... One of the best investments I've made. And if you follow the directions to a, you shouldn't get any rust for a very long time.

 

i know i shouldn't double post, but i figured if someone can show me how, then it would be better here since its local.

"i have a question for the 1st gen people. i was finally getting around to my install, but i ran into a slight problem. when i'm doing the fender side brackets, i can't get a drill in there due to the hood in the way. did anyone just hit it at an angle or take their hood off? the pics show the drill going almost straight down for both fender screw holes, i can't get that, not even close. just wondering how it was done???"

 

I want to do this mod, but I don't like drilling anywhere for fear of rust. I guess I could put a dab of silicone before riveting the brackets. Would this help with rust? Anybody have excessive rust where they drilled a hole anywhere?

 

I just did mine tonight... you could just touch it up around the rivet but honestly it should be fine. The self tapping screws on the bottom will have some open air even if you touch it up first... but... if you put silicon or rtf around the edges to keep water out it'd be fine. Honestly I wouldn't think twice, it's worth it.
