I was in store last week and got to handle the Glock, S&W, Springfield, and the Walter. I liked the feel of the Walther a lot. I’m also a lefty so I liked the lever style ambi slide lock of the Walther. I do like the Glock though even though the gen4 doesn’t have an ambi slide lock.

Oh yea I’ve heard good things about the HK too. So many choices :annoyed:
I’ve also got a stack of Cabelas gift cards burning a hole in my pocket:spending:

I would look at Springfield Armory. They are an extremely accurate, reliable gun with safety features Glock doesn’t have. I personally have seen Glocks fail in the field, and never really have been a fan of them. Sig Saur has great ones as well, as well as H&K, but I don’t personally have much experience with them. Just curious, why are you choosing open over concealed?

Honestly I just want one to go play with and keep in the nightstand so the added magazine is what I was after. I’m not planning on being a concealed carrier anytime soon although that’s the reason I was looking at the Glock 19 because it seems to be more concealable than the full sized.

If it's any reassurance all of the options you have listed would be good. Everybody prefers a different flavor of kool-aid but they're all good, man :rasta:

    Have you considered a revolver?

For open carry I would go with a full size (ie a G17 over a G19). I also like my sig and my Springfield so those would be some other manufacturers to check out. With a full size you get a longer sight radius and longer barrel which both increase accuracy. Also it will likely have a higher capacity too.

Lefties unite! That’s why I got rid of my gen 3 G17 because not even the mag release was ambi or reversible. New ones are though.

No I haven’t. Like I said I’m totally green when it comes to handguns and the majority that I see being used are semiautos

I know the gen4 you can reverse the mag release but I thought the slide lock was ambi too. Maybe it was the gen5 that was that way.

Get the PPQ. I’ve been carrying one daily for years now. They are fantastic guns. The ergonomics can’t be beat and it will feed everything you put in it. I have probably 4 or 5k rounds through mine and honestly can’t think of a malfunction. Only dislike I have, is the slide release location. Sometimes I end up pushing my thumb up on it whole shooting and it won’t lock back on an empty mag. Also aftermarket support is expensive. I wanted a threaded barrel so I could run my suppressor and ended up having to buy a custom threaded barrel for it.

I agree the PPQ was the best feeling in hand by far.

Another pro for the PPQ is the trigger. It has one of the best factory triggers out there. Also the HK VP9 has similar ergonomics as the PPQ and HK recently lowered the MSRP to like $600. So I would give that a try too. Outside of those two, the M&P9’s have a good feel too.

I can only assume that powersports shops must fall under the dealer definition which keeps them from being open on what could be the most lucrative day of the week? Silly law imo.

Two in BV and one in Silverthorne all closed today.
