To each their own I guess. We have met some wonderful and interesting people from all around the world at campgrounds. There was a couple from the Netherlands behind us this weekend in a camper van he built himself, shipped here, and they’rejust starting a 6 month us tour. Very interesting people. Our goals are to be able eventually to get away from everything’s no and go off grid when we want to for a week at a time completely self sustained but we’ll still hit some state parks and campgrounds for this simple reason. I go out and talk to people, even though I don’t prefer to socialize much anymore, ya never know who you’ll meet

Nope we left her at home this trip. Good thing as there were dogs everywhere. She’s going next trip though she hasn’t left my side since we got home

Very true. And everyone has their preference. Some areas offer the seclusion and the amenities, some offer nothing. Some people really want to be out there but have some kind of issue that doesn't allow them to be as far out as they want, some are more social, some are really on hard times and some really didn't plan their for "golden years" as well as they wanted. There are just as many reasons for people being out as there are people out there. It really is interesting sometimes. Not defending or promoting what they do, it's just what they do.

Not bagging, just different. But one thing about it, they're out there doing pretty much what and how they want and most of us are working for the day we can do the same.

We’re trying to head that direction but it’s slow. With some of my health issues I need electricity so until I can sort all that out campgrounds it will be. I’m just starting to look into dual batteries and solar but it’s going to be a bit

Neighbor across street has brother from Maine that snowbirds here. He left last week. Didn’t get a chance to meet him yet.

I see a bit of that too. One issue is cpap machines needing power and "quiet hours" are 2200 to 0600...no generators, no music, no nothing. I see a ton of solar and a whole bunch of ideas. It seems solar tech isn't a fast mover, though it is moving. But for certain, the more you need the bigger the roof you need. Some have a roof full and more on the ground. But the one thing most common is still needing a generator. Fire it up in the morning to replace the bulk of the charge then let the sun top it off before dusk....rinse and repeat.

Cause all I have to do is wash it then take it out on the trail and get it dirty again.

It’s a real pain in the ass, but it’s better than sleeping on the ground.

Those are cool. Another thing that’s cool is the habitat. If I didn’t have a wife and dogs I’d go with the habitat. Current plan is using the RTT till I can afford an off road camper.

Are you raising the center of gravity in comparison to your RTT?

We’re hoping our little camper is the ticket. It’s supposed to be made to do trails and stuff off road, not crawling or anything serious. After years of camping in the army and Girl Scouts I’d hadmy full of tents. This seemed a good compromise it’s like tent camping with a hard shade fed tent. We just need to make it self sufficient.

That's my plan and the details of it all are still festering in my brain. Like the guy in the video, the military ruined camping for me but I really like being out there. So with one of those it takes out most of the set up and tear down.
