Argh.... my ARB bumper's headlight wrap bar completely blocks my HID low beams! Is this a known problem with 2nd gen Tacomas with HIDs? The low beams are the outer ring. 20180422_180500.jpg I installed my Rigid fog lights as supplemental lighting to buy me time to figure out a solution. I'd rather not revert back to stock headlights. Any other ideas?

I have retrofitted stock headlights and I don't notice any light blockage at all. The projectors on your aftermarket headlights are positioned a bit higher though. Do you have any pictures of the output?

Yup agreed, totally different position for the bulbs. No picture of the light pattern yet, I'll snap some in a few hours when it's dark. It's bad. LOL

Yeos.. Are you saying you've got aftermarket projector lights in there? Are they the ones that are a single halo for hi and low? Looking into getting those to fix the issue but I drive on lots of rough roads, worried about those falling apart because of their adjustability..

Like others, I also have no issues with the bar blocking the low beams. It's the design of your aftermarket headlights...

Thanks y'all but I know that the stock headlights have no issue with the ARB LOL
Just trying to find someone who has aftermarket headlights that actually work with the ARB, I'd rather not revert to stock.

Those look nice and have the appearance of a pretty standard retrofitted headlight.

It looks like the beam will be coming from a slightly lower angle than your current lights.

    Which will help

the issue you are having here is that when ARB designed their bumper for your model truck they designed it with the factory headlights being taken into consideration and not an aftermarket headlight... ARB builds their bumpers to work with both your factory headlights and your factory airbags...

I am not sure if the fault here really is on the ARB hoops getting in the way as much as the headlights you have on there now have not been designed with bumper hoops in mind.

I agree with everything you're saying, just trying to find the best solution. I bought this truck with the HID's in it, installed the ARB after. I'm going to either get the lights in the carid link i posted above, or get stock lighthousings and put in LED bulbs. I'm super interested in the homemade retrofit projectors tho. Im very rough on my trucks, my last Tacoma would blow a high quality halogen headlight bulb every month or 2, and no it wasn't an electrical issue, just lots of fast bumpy dirt road driving.

yea this can be annoying and is a known issue, for fighting this I would say nothing beats the factory headlights....

maybe you can try loosening the bumper and see if you can tighten it back up with someone lifting it up to try and lessen the gap you have there between bumper and fender/lights. this may bring the bar up just slightly enough perhaps to clear the lights shining under the bar...

the other option is maybe changing the front body mount support bushings that in many cases are crushed (even on new low miles tacos out the box), though this might make the problem worse perhaps moving the bar even more inline with the light...

from the pictures those carid lights do seem to be centered in the housing better than the ones you currently have.

Uurx, and everyone else, thanks for the suggestions and info.. there is a small gap between the bumper and the body above it but I doubt it'd move enough to clear the lights, the light blockage is both from the top and side of the bull bar. Yes I'm in between reverting to stock and putting LED's in it, or getting this headlight where the bulb is in stock position, but not good reviews of it.

Other possibility but don't know if the bar would block em..

Do you still have your stock lights?

You can have somebody build a set for you on here

ChadsPride, I don't, I bought the truck with the current lights in it, but I'm willing to buy a new set of stocks.. I think I'd opt for an LED bulb in stock vs a homemade projector or whatever, like I said, I'm hard on my trucks, lotsa bumpy curvy roads, I feel like a homemade setup would fall apart on me.

Totally understandable. You will get a lot of people saying not to run the LED in a stock housing but thats up to you.

I still think there are replacement aftermarket lights out there that will give you a nice appearance that most people like and work better with the hoop from the bumper.
