Also I found an almost mint set of rims off of a 2013 ford escape. they're 235/70/16. Which should fit without rubbing. Does anyone know if they for sure will fit though? I read a few places that they should, but don't want to get screwed.

Opinion only. I am assuming you meant 2012 Ford Escape. 2013 (Facelift) came with 17-19" rims, depending on option package, according to Wheel-size.com

I can answer this one as a matter of conjecture .. assuming that your front end is entirely unmolested, aligned, and not messed with in any way.. you should, in theory, be able to use the Ford Escape rims as is, with 67.1-60.1 hubcentric adapter rings. The rim's are of same spec as a set of aftermarket rims that i am running at present on my Tacoma. I initially ran 225/75R16's on mine, before i had my lift/level and new shocks installed. It shouldn't rub, and if it does, a 5mm spacer between hub and rim face should fix it. It should even clear the fender liner black-boxes.

Temped to pull the trigger on the rims.
