That route is good. I call that "the back way", but there are a few ways to go that way. Another way makes you go NE starting in Taylor instead of Waco.

I would say anyone in your caravan all use Waze or something similar. Plenty of places to fuel and ice up. Mind the speed limits in and around the small towns!

I plan to caravan with my brother in his 4runner and maybe another rig, leaving Austin on Thursday morning. We'll be out at Jambo sporadically through Sunday since we have some family stuff to do as well.

Yeah but you can't see all the the good ol' backwoods sights going that way, get some awesome baked goods, beef jerky, etc.!

Yikes! I hope i dont need this now lol

The wind wasnt so bad since we could use the trucks to block it, but it was filled with sand and salt spray which made you sticky after just a few minutes of being in it.

Yup that would be 79. Honestly depending on traffic, I've done the highway route in 4.5 hrs and I've done it in 8 (Thanksgiving FML). Any of the "back ways" are pretty much 4.5-5hrs but the drive is much more pleasant.

    IH35 > 79 > 155 North in Pallestine to Gilmer

In case y'all are curious, I'll be staying just North of Gilmer, in Pittsburg.

Another note, I've had a 4runner buddy (who will be at Jambo) mention the Life360 app to me. It's what his Jeeping parents use to track one another with their friends during events/offroading, etc. You basically start a group and share your location (turn it off when you want). Might be a good way for this group to keep track of one another during that weekend. I'm sure I'll be using it as well.

Yessir. IMO summer time is better camping on the beach. Yes, it'll be hotter, but less wind, cleaner water and better fishing. I'm liking the sounds of the SPI trip.

SWEET!!! And I may or may not have a large number of truck-colored TTC logo stickers for our trucks. But can neither confirm nor deny these stickers. :anonymous:

Totally free to the brothers and sisters in TTC, just my lil contribution when we meet up!!
