Soooo does anyone have a set of stock 6 lug leaf springs

 

Anybody from the Tampa area headed over to the West Palm Beach/Lakeland/Orlando area anytime soon that might be willing to TW express a couple of leaf packs to Kenny?

So next weekend Im reinstalling my add-a-leaf, drivers side hub, and doing the spark plugs. I have all the instructions for each thing and the proper torques for each nut but had one question. The spark plugs I got say not to use anti seize. That seems weird to me. I ordered the Bosch Double Iridium plugs.

 

I did some research on that a few years ago. IIRC, when the plugs say don't use anti-seize it's because they are plated in such a way that the plating acts in the same manner as anti-seize. It's designed to come loose when the plug is removed. It didn't seem like that great an idea to me given that if it flakes off the flakes are going to end up in the cylinder when you put the new plugs in which I can't imagine would be healthy for the cylinder walls, but what do I know? Maybe the flakes burn up and get blown out the exhaust port before they cause too much damage.

FWIW, I prefer NGK to Bosch any day of the week.

 

Thanks! I went with the Bosch because thats what my mechanic buddy told me to order haha. But if they are crap I will know how to change them on my own after next weekend.

 

It's a matter of personal preference, I guess. I just think that Bosch is overrated and I like NGK better. Anyway, no problem. I was curious about that myself at one time, so I looked it up, especially since we always used anti-seize on the turbine engine ignitors on aircraft.

 

I will report back next. Sunday on how it all goes. After the plugs get replaced its a 2 hour drive home so if any issues popup it should be on that drive.

 

Oh, and here's a tip: Use a spark plug socket to remove and install the plugs, but lube the rubber insert in the socket with Vaseline or something and tape the socket to your extension so you don't pull the extension out of the socket after the plug is installed and you go to pull the socket out.

 

One of the benefits/curses to traveling for work is that I end up having a lot of time to plan out modifications to the truck. I've got the 4xInnovations shackle flip kit sitting in my garage, as well as a set of Bilstein B110 5100's for the extra travel in the rear. I noticed after adding the HC bumper (coupled with the bed rack and RTT) that my springs are pretty much flat. I'm currently on stock springs with an AAL. In my storage unit in Daytona, I've got a set of leafs that I pulled off of my Ram 1500 QC when I lowered it. I think that when it comes time to do the flip kit, I'm going to shuffle a couple of the Ram leafs (cut to fit, of course) into my stock leaf pack. I've already ordered U-Bolt flip plates and U-Bolts from Barnes, new center pins, and the poor man's superbumps (frame mounted GMC 1500 rear bump stops). I've got the extended brake lines already. That should pretty much do it, right?

 

Looking for recommendations in the Central Florida area for installation of the sdhq hidden winch bumper and winch.

I usually do all my own car installs but just don't have time cuz of work and going back to school.

Are 2nd and 3rd gen leaf springs the same?

 

I have a set with an add-a-leaf in them I will sell for $50

 

I may have found a local set off a 3rd gen but I need to figure out if they're the same.
