It makes sense to me. I was going to go check it out but she went to work. I'll take a look when I get home.

Brandon at AVID put in the lift and from what I remember he didn't loosen those to put in the lift.

I use two medium to small prybars from harbor freight. One on either side and moderate pressure. If it won't come out, rotate a 1/4 turn and try again. Its pretty simple

I know we have a few tech guru's in here, I have a question is there a way to pinpoint how to tell what causing our office internet to be quick one second then slow the next I am seeing speeds anywhere from 100mbps to 15mbps on speed tests

Is this a small office with just a router sending out the internet, or is it a large network and server?

If it’s a small modem/router system you can log into the router and look at everything that is connecting to it, and see if there’s a specific computer or user pulling a bunch of data/bandwidth that is killing it.

It’s a server system with only about 8 computers on it, what is slow is the connection to the server but it’s not all the time some times is stupid fast other times it take 5mins to save a document

Also to add to this I did the speed tests on my computer it’s a conisitent 55+mbps so I did one on the server and it’s 55 then I ran it again and it’s down to 15mbps so I’m thinking it is with the server but I don’t know shit about this stuff lol

Yah I’ve been out of the game on servers for awhile now, so I couldn’t tell you the steps any longer to check data packets and so on to see what’s going on.

    @Aw9d probably knows best though.

    • What type of hardware are you running when it comes to switches? Managed or unmanned?
    • Have you rebooted everything in the server room, including switches/routers/modems/etc?
    • Is this running off of a windows server?
    • Is the entire network, including the server slow or is just the workstations connected to the server having issues?
    • Is the server's HDD full?
    • Is the servers RAM showing 80% usage or more?
    • Is the server up to date with patches?
    • Has this been going on for awhile or is it new? Could call the ISP and see if they are having issues
The fact that you are saving a doc and it's taking a long time points me more towards the server or internal network hardware. I'd start checking the perfmon and seeing what is pegging out or what is showing high activity. Still reboot all the hardware and see if that helps. Switches can be a bitch at times and when they start going out they can do some funky stuff.

If you are running speedtests don't use speeedtest.net. Use testmy.net or speedof.me for testing as it moves real packets of data. Run this from the server and a work station when you are having issues.

So just trying to get a feel for what is happening. You have a server there in the office with your workstation. You try to save a document to the server and that sometimes takes forever? This doesn't sound like anything to do with internet and your connection/speed to the internet.
