    2x4 with dowel

    Use a 1" paddle bit and drill out holes however spaced apart you want the boards to be. Screw the 2x4 into the wall studs. Then get 1" dowels from the store, cut to length, and put the peg in the hole. Paint if desired.

    I strongly considered that, but I'm going to mod my bed extender to work with them, and TC is the only one I know of that has the braces in the correct position to allow the extender brackets to mount.
