Dropped off at Kokopelli. Some were dropping at lower jimmy keen, but should all be at koko by next weekend.

And yeah, the Canyons thing is a terrible decision. I think they'll figure it out after its too late. Deer Valley is seeing so many extra dollar signs its rediculous.

Kbvoodoo 3" rise bars. I flipped them so they sit below top of the bed wall, this way I can get a roll-up tonneau over the racks while not in use, and the bed is free to store camping gear.

I've been looking at upcoming demo days and I plan on attending as soon as I get to Washington and demo'ing for a little while before investing. I've also watched a few videos of local washington trails and I don't think I need full 6" travel. I just really liked the idea of the maestro plush ride. My only concern is that I have seen multiple reviews that the giants aren't playful bikes and I'd much prefer to be able to point the bike anywhere than anything else. I have tried going to my LBS here in Tennessee but I gave up because the selection was extremely narrow. They told me I could order a bike but wouldn't be able to demo anything that I was actually interested in because they didn't have any of them.

Extra bonus of the recon racks, makes a good quick bike stand at races!

@dman100 I forgot to mention. I used to ride a giant hard tail back when I used to live in SoCal with a large frame and keep in mind I'm only 5'8" on a GOOD day. My experience with this was not great. However I loved every minute of it. The bike was $500 but I think still low end. I yearned for a bike that fit me.

If your only real trail experience is on an older hardtail, you may be surprised at how plush a modern 120-140 bike with larger, lower pressure tubeless tires can be. And 150-160 can be a drag climbing. But, I’m an old slow rider, and I do appreciate rolling through stuff on a 29-er that I don’t have the skills to loft over or go around. Locally, most of the skilled and fit all-trail guys I ride with, who are not super aggressive however, also ride 29”.

@Sm32589g just a heads up, large xc bikes from back in the day (pre 2005 ish) had a very different geometry that caused them to feel much larger than they were. I am around 5'10 and would ride what giant labeled a 19" giant xtc, but with new geometries I am riding larges, and would even go to XL for DH. But yeah, the basics of it are demo as many bikes as you can! Where in TN are you at?

I wouldn't mind a 5" travel or 140mm setup. I just need to find one with a good fun frame. I really like the ibis for the price. But 4k is a bit much I don't really have that much the reign 2 can't beat the price!

Really good point. I thought I should get the smallest frame that I could still get a decent pedaling position on, so I could move around on the bike. Every bike shop plus factory demo guys, told me the opposite. With a dropper post and a short stem get the largest frame you feel comfortable on (for a trail bike, not for dirt jump/pump track). I’m 5’10-11” and ride large, my wife is 5’5” and rides a medium. I realize S-M-L varies between brands, but she always rode smaller frames on older bikes.

That's an interesting point. I've never heard that. I wonderwhy that is. I usedto ride bmx too so I always felt comfortable on smaller frames.

the shorter stems and wider bars are driving that, and as manufacturers are experimenting with how far that trend can go, people are realizing that by going that route, you are gaining high speed/rough terrain stability while not really seeing a negative impact on slower speed responsiveness. Its like the best of both worlds, within reason of course. I pulled out one of my old race bikes (03 I think cannondale scalpel) with like a 100 mil stem and bars so narrow that the ends of the brakes almost touched! Tried riding it, and it felt like a death trap after riding new stuff. I can guarantee you wont look back!

Hah! My town bike is my old ‘80’s rigid mountain bike which I rode in Moab, Sedona, Tahoe etc back in the day. Honestly, it feels unstable (and uncomfortable) even cruising through town to the grocery store. I think it has 130 stem, and of course very narrow bars. I took it on some easy singletrack last year and it wasn’t fun in any way. Glad they don’t make ‘em like they used to!

If anyone wants the "berms, jumps, ruts...hot laps" song from the stumpjumper ad, I've got it.

PM me and I'll send it to you. I set it as the ringtone for the local Crest shuttle guy. :D

a former member (who got permabanned) and is my current enemy just bought an ebike.

Im laughing so much. I have no problem with ebikes as bar hoppers or city cruisers, but keep them fruit boots off the trails. Outside of a few pros who photo op'd ebikes for their sponsors those things are hot garbage. I can guarantee you 99% of people one might encounter on a trail on an ebike have NO idea how to ride.

Lol. Pretty sure I know who you're talking about and was laughing as well. But also share the same sentiment toward e-bikes

Is there a preferred biking app among everyone? Or is it just preference? I see a lot to chose from. I am an iPhone user if that matters.
