I still have to install mine... I emailed ch4x4 but never got a response on a DPDT rocker switch that matches the interior ones I have.

I've been busy rehabbing the rear suspension though

    Sweet pic.

I've researched DPDT rocker switches. Nothing really comes close to matching the interior, at least in my opinion. Which is why I only provide the push button style switch with my kits. I wanted my kits to maintain an OEM/Factory look. You can easily find a DPDT rocker switch, that will fit, but it will definitely look aftermarket/added on.

Thanks! My buddy's farm is a cool place to explore!

I'm going to put it in the spot behind the shifter next to the aux port. I currently have a USB + aux combo there that keeps falling out since its smaller. Its aggravating. You have any links on the DPDT switches you found?

CH4x4 will have them. You just need to make sure you get the DPDT on-off-on. Be careful not to get on-off-(on), which would be a momentary switch.

A switch I ordered for another project arrived today in a tire flattened pouch. Having opened up the remains it might be possible to create a pcb with two surface mounted switches. The plug pins are just standard .1" right angle pin headers and the only other parts are two led/resistor combos for the illumination. Someone with eagle cad and an Oshpark account could/might do this. Then it's just converting the switch cover to a rocker.

That’s possible. I asked one vendor to make me two push button SPST switches small enough to fit the same size as the cubby switch. So each switch would have been about 18mmx10mm. They told me no.

Here's the pcb39D3F0E9-0C61-4C6F-AAFB-5C5636FA2D35_zps_fa304e35285f1cade26cdfc4aa20270941b8fa72.jpg as you can see it's a pretty simple one that uses readily available thru hole components. Even the plug pins are just pin headers.

I've been on other forums where members created a new pcb design and a vendor took care of production.

I received my BYOS kit several weeks ago, great communication and quick shipping. The wiring kit came in great shape, everything appeared quality and was packaged well. I went to install the kit this past weekend and I have to say, respectfully, that the instructions were a bit lackluster

I'm hoping I can explain my problem with them in a hope to look out for other buyers who I see asking questions in this thread, since I see you, several times, refuse to post the instructions when people have asked for them.

I would understand if the info wasn't already readily available in several threads here on TW already, or if it was required to protect a "trade secret" of sorts, specific to your kit...but that's just not the case here. Nothing about your kit is a secret, and that's fine...plenty of people will buy it as a shortcut and/or as a helpful tool if they're more of a novice tackling this mod. The reason I'm posting this here and not in a PM is mostly due to this lack of openness and as a service to other potential customers of yours that I see asking these specific questions repeatedly.

Specifically, you start by instructing us to "Find connector IN1" but then show a random disconnected connector without ever referencing which one it is out of the several located in that area. They're not labelled, so finding IN1 stamped on one of the handful isn't an option. The connector you show has a certain number and color of wires, so I tried to go by that but your picture was blurry, mainly of the side of the connector, and didn't match my IN1 connector.

After that, your wiring schematic was less than clarifying as well. Your instructions are tuned for wiring an illuminated switch, you include information for both switches, but it's quite jumbled together, which makes following your instructions difficult as there's no clear path of installation prescribed for a non-illuminated switch, which should be considered for the BYOS kit as I'm sure a majority of the buyers don't have room for another large switch (hence the BYOS choice) or just don't want a minor switch like this illuminated.

I'm relatively competent in wiring switches, have done several over the years and two in this truck already, which you claim is sufficient experience, but what I didn't know was what wires needed spliced on the trucks factory harness and your instructions just didn't clarify that for me, actually, it ultimately confused me more until I simply ignored them and did what I knew combined with other information I found.

I hope you'll consider my constructive feedback and that this may answer some of the questions I see asked throughout the thread here.

    Jake

Jake, I appreciate your write up and will take your feedback and suggestions into consideration and look to update my documentation.

I have since started emailing the installation guide ahead of kit delivery, so that the end user can review the guide and they are able to ask any questions that they may have, well before receiving their kit.

As for the installation of your kit, I don't recall at any point where you reached out with questions. If you did and I didn't answer for whatever reason, I apologize. I try make myself readily available to anyone that has questions. I think the history in this thread and other threads speaks to that.

Please understand that everyone's milage will vary as far as the install. Unfortunately, due to the unavailability that I have with all GEN 2 models, years, and trim level packages, I can only take photos of those that I have access to. Which is why I make myself available for questions. I've had users send me pictures of their setups and was able to walk them through it. If you would like to send me photos of your factory harness bank, I would be happy to update the guide with them.

When it comes to the BYOS kits, unless I'm contacted, there's really no way for me to know what type of switch is being installed. Most people that are competent with switches will know that they will have a power, relay/accessory, and ground at minimum. Those that aren't, I'm happy to assist them with the install, even on the BYOS kits.

Again, I appreciate the feedback and please don't think that I hold any ill will towards you for posting this, that is not the case at all. It actually helps me provide a better product and better customer service. So again, thank you.

    JJ
