Is there a way to lower the seat down in these trucks? I'm vertically #blessed and have an issue with:

A: my noggin rubs the roof when i'm sitting normal in the vehicular. Pretty annoying
B: The roof line comes down right into the field of view and cuts off a large amount of stuff that I like looking at. For example, street lights, clouds... Well, what more do you need?
C: I'm constantly bending over to see stuff and it is getting quite old since my lower back is a bit on the dodgy side from 14 years of football and being a nurse.
D: If I lean the seat back to wear my sight-line is proper and my legs are comfortable in the footwell, I can't reach the steering wheel. (I'm not a dang gorilla, I mean cmon)

I know I know I should've tested the truck way more thoroughly, but I was star struck with this damn thing and made a mediocre decision. I'm trying to make it work out but if it doesn't I may have to jump ship to a 4runner. For information purposes I'm 6'4, 230, and my inseam is 34". On a serious note, my lower back is a fairly serious issue. I have a pinched nerve that manifests itself as a specific pain in a very particular body part that is aggravated by bad posture or prolonged periods of bending over. Lemme know what you got! or just pick fun, either or.

Remove your seat entirely and sit on the floor?

6'4" 250 here. I am fine in my truck but I got one without a sunroof because.. test drive.
I did extensively test drive one with a sun roof too. I did finally find a position where i fit but it took awhile.
I traded a 2016 4Runner on this truck and guess what - My head still hit with a sunroof lol.
I'm sure you could mod the seat frame to get a half inch or so but it will probably be expensive.
As far as looking through the top of the windshield (have not used a sun visor ever) that is just gonna happen unless you get a CUV or Minivan. My wife has a new Highlander and I have like two inches between my head and roof and it has a sunroof!
Good luck man. My advice is to matbe take it to an upholstery shop and reform the seat bottom and shave it a bit. Probably help your back if they form it right.

I do not have a sunroof. I did test one of those and literally couldn't sit in the drivers seat. The dealer said this... and I quote "You can just lean the seat way back, you know you want this truck." To which I said " I can not fit." He replies "You'll get used to it man, just pull the trigger"

Oddly enough, I've been thinking of something similar but maybe not as drastic? Has anybody tried popping the seat out and working over the stock seat rails (i.e. cutting and re-welding them )? My concerns are a. if you are a shitty welder, these seats seem pretty heavy in the case of a forward collision and 2. will re-positioning the seat in a way it wasn't designed fuck with airbag functionality and effectiveness?

@OP, sorry, not trying to hijack the thread but these #showerthoughts questions might yield information useful to you and me both!

Edit: @hiPSI nailed another potential option, as well as this one. FINE THEN *takes ball and goes home*

There was another thread recently where someone with the same issue took the seat to an upholsterer and had them remove some of the foam. Can't remember how much room he got...

i had an upholstery shop carve out foam into a bucket from the seat bottom, and that dropped my spine and SIT bones a bit, and it also allows the thighs to be supported from the contour of the bucket. i was gonna sell the truck it was so uncomfortable, and now it's basically perfect for hours of driving. but I'm only 6'2".
if you're serious about it, this is probably the only real solution. the bracketing on the stock seat is bottomed out by design. or the gains will be too minimal for you I'm guessing.

I am vertically challenged so I don't have this issue but I have thought the seats sit real high off the truck floor. I'm a little surprised they are not adjustable height. Also, might be obvious but referring to not reaching the steering wheel, you know it's telescoping right? Again, being vertically challenged I found that out quickly lol.

Seconding the no-go on seat rail fuckery. They really didn't leave a lot of wiggle room on that. Don't judge the dog hair! I have hairy ass dogs!

 whoa no dogs they are wolfs, that dog hair is nearly impossible to remove. And there was a member who replaced their seats with those from a 4th gen 4runner,

I don't mind that idea! 4th gen seats are decently comfy.

Basically no way too get more head room in a Tacoma, maybe lean the seat back is about it,since the seats are already bolted directly the floor.
